Gun Rights Debate Fuels Historic Donations In Virginia Elections
WAMU ^ | 6 September, 2019 | Daniella Cheslow

The National Rifle Association gave a historic contribution to Virginia’s statewide elections this week, donating just over $200,000 to House of Delegates Majority Leader Todd Gilbert.

The donation is far less than the $2.5 million given by gun control advocates. But both sums show how the issue could be decisive in the November elections for the General Assembly.

“They may outspend the NRA, but they will never outwork us,” said NRA spokesperson Catherine Mortensen.

The NRA is “fully engaged,” in the election “to protect the self defense rights of every law-abiding Virginian,” she said, adding that “big-city financiers” have flooded Virginia.

One of the “big-city” bankrollers she referenced is Everytown for Gun Safety, a New York based group funded largely by Michael Bloomberg.

Everytown has committed $2.5 million to Virginia elections, including $125,000 to the Virginia Senate Democratic Caucus and $100,000 to the Virginia House Democratic Caucus. This week, the group endorsed 25 candidates running for office in Virginia, and pledged to “unleash its grassroots army” to support their campaigns.

Andrew Zucker, a spokesperson for Everytown, says they’ve spent millions in other states, including during Nevada’s statewide races, but Everytown has never contributed so heavily in Virginia.

Virginia hangs in the balance.
We currently have good gun laws, which the Democrats want to do away with.
They want to turn Virginia into New Jersey.
They may have enough New Jersey voters now to do it.

I agree. It concerns me that Bloomberg is considering a run for the presidency if Biden is pushed to the sidelines.

Is the door closed on Bloomberg running as a Democrat? If not, when does this door close?

As a third party candidate, Bloomberg would hurt the Democrats more than Trump.

In a brokered convention, Bloomberg might be able to buy his way into the candidacy.

The future of 2A is what NJ has done to it. A-holes sh*t their state up and just move to another and sh*t that up. That liberal migration plus letting in every third world colonist over the border is pretty much the end of our country as we know it. Conservatives will be relegated to regions and hopefully hold that final line but demographics,f-ed up judges and two worthless political parties will deal us a hard blow.

but they will never outwork us,” said NRA spokesperson

History shows that in recent years the Virginia conservatives have sat on their hands and not worked. For example, Cuccinelli lost, not because his opponent did so well, but because Cuccinelli had no ground game, no get out the vote effort.

Nationwide, conservatives run the risk losing precisely because they are all talk and no work.

Let’s hope that VA conservatives learned their lesson & don’t “go fishing” on election day.

Here in TX, I can do little to help the VA situation, as I no longer live there & we have enough on our plate here in TX, with all the KALIFORNICATING LIBS moving into Dallas, Houston & San Antonio.

YO!

Virginia conservatives; here is all you need to do:

Get the word out that

"A VOTE FOR ANY DEMOCRAT IS A VOTE AGAINST AMERICA!"

DEMOCRAT = ANTI-AMERICAN!

GA is a situation similar to TX. Population is booming. Massive influx of workers from rust belt cities flocking to the jobs in Red states and fleeing from the jobless high taxes of Rust Belt Cities.

The Republican establishment seem totally ignorant and oblivious to what is happening. Nobody is asking the refugees from the North to ponder why there are plenty of jobs in Red states and no jobs in their Democrat controlled rust belt cities.

The only thing better than Clinton and Warren failing back to back is if the GOP runs a woman in 2024.
