Never Forget to Pass Along Key Lessons
Coeur d'Alene Press ^ | September 11, 2019

Where were you at 5:46 a.m. 18 years ago today?

And at 6:03 a.m. that day, what, exactly, were you doing?

Most of you reading this will be able to answer those questions without hesitation. At 5:46 a.m. Pacific Time on 9/11/01, five hijackers flew American Airlines Flight 11 into the northern side of 1 WTC — the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. Then, 17 minutes later, five hijackers crashed United Airlines Flight 175 into the southern side of 2 WTC.

You remember these things because they register as one of the greatest tragedies not just in your life, but in the history of our nation. Starting with those orchestrated attacks, terrorism struck home as it had never struck before.

And now, 18 years later, we should be mindful that as indelibly etched in our memories as that day will be forever, it is merely a story passed down to millions of Americans who were not alive at the time. More than a quarter of all Idahoans weren’t around back then, which suggests that the rest of us have an important civic responsibility to pass along.

We vowed then never to forget. So how can we expect millions to remember what they didn’t even experience?

Well, we teach them. As parents, grandparents, friends, neighbors, even lukewarm acquaintances, we take the time to share with them how the unprecedented act of terrorism burned part of us completely to the ground before galvanizing us and in many ways making us stronger. We show them the photos that even now bring searing pain. We take them back as best we can so they can at least begin to understand how that day changed the world forever.

Maybe even more importantly, through these discussions and interactions perhaps we can dust off the great American spirit that pulled the most disparate among us together. In the weeks and months after 9/11, it mattered little what color you were, which political party you favored or which team you rooted for most vigorously. In the aftermath of that devastating day, a Phoenix arose: from the World Trade Center ashes, states united. Previous adversaries joined hands not just so this nation could survive, but again thrive.

That’s the lesson that we should not just pass along to the youngsters, but to remember well ourselves.

This is typical of the editorials being printed all over the United States today. It takes a real writing talent to pen a complete editorial without even mentioning once the elephant in the room. The author writes "we teach them" -- we teach them WHAT? That "somebody did something" on 9/11/2001?

The editorial writers, the MSM, liberals, and most of the government deserve our scorn and opprobrium for ignoring what caused 9/11.

SPIT! on all of them for sweeping the truth under the rug for 18 long years.

They do NOT envy our booze, our bikini beaches, our many women who now crowd and dominate our Universities:

We can NOT re-create the American Mid-West in the Middle-East.

Let us guard our OWN borders, our OWN immigration.

Budgets can be yuge, you can blot out the sky with choppers, put anti-terror troops on EVERY corner but as long as there is no wall and uncontrolled immigration:

WE have not had and do NOT now have any, “war on terror”.

It is FICTION.

I always though that Bin Laden’s reason was weak and seemed fabricated.

“WE have not had and do NOT now have any, “war on terror”

Hell, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed won’t be tried until 2021 at the earliest. A sick farce and beyond sick “justice system”. The Nuremburg war criminals were all tried and executed within 15 months of the end of the war.

“SPIT! on all of them for sweeping the truth under the rug for 18 long years.”

They want it to happen all over again, and again, and again...! That’s why they are so adamant on the immigration issue (as well as picking up more democrat voters in the meantime.)

Craig Winn’s excellent site which is A very scholarly and exhaustive expose of Islam , the Koran , and the Hadith and why Islam is what it is

Mohammed was clearly a insane psychopath who cleverly stole wisdom and used it for his own terrible accumulation of power that continues to this day in his name

The key point to understand about Islam as it’s all based on this Insanw psychopath murderer in slavery or child rapist

The night before, we had checked into a great Pacific Shore resort in NW Oregon, to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. It had been a long drive, and my wife was still asleep the next morning. I had made myself a cup of coffee and was back in bed watching tv without the sound, when the first plane hit the first tower.

I guess that I was cursing out loud and my wife wanted to know what happened. I told her that apparently a plane had crashed into a WTC tower. I made her a cup of coffee and then the second plane hit. My wife doesn’t curse except in rare times. She did then.

We decided to drive home that day as we could not get in touch with anyone as the phone lines were backed up/

I decided to gas up my Bronco, and she would let the front desk know. After I got gas, I stopped by the front desk to pay for the one night and check out.

Most people were like, us in shock and trying to get back to our homes.

However, the scum of life were there with people saying they were not going to spoil their vacation over what happened on the East coast.

Then worse, some Canadian librarians who were holding a meeting there. They were saying that we deserved it as evil Americans.

I told the head butch librarian, to shut her F***ing mouth and get out of the way. Several other guests were even more explicit than me.

The manager told the Canutes to shut up, get out of the area and to go back to their meeting room. If they repeated their bs, he would call the cops on them throw them out.

My wife had repacked everything, and we loaded the Bronco and hugged a few strangers in the parking lot and left.

The Drive down the coast was strangely packed with traffic both ways. Radio reception was not there, and my old flip phone had no coverage. Conversely, we stopped for lunch at a Moe’s and only a few cars were there with a few customers, normally they are packed 24/7. We sat, ordered and ate at the bar watching tv and hearing about the plane crash in PA.

We drove to Jots in Gold Beach and stopped to cancel our reservations for the week after that. The manager said we could stay there overnite or as long as we wanted. I told him that I wanted to make it to Brookings and leave the next morning for home. He Telexed the Brookings motel, we had reservations after them. He got us a room for the night and an option for a couple of nights if we wanted to stay.

We pulled in Brookings to get gas and then to check in. There was all most a riot at the gas station when a jerk pulled in driving an old pickup loaded with gas cans and tried to jump ahead in line. Quickly a lot of people waiting had their guns out and ready to use them. The manager came out with a Remington 12 pump with a short barrel. He told the rectum to leave while he could still drive. The rectum left.

Later while we were checking to the motel, 4 long black suv’s loaded with guys and gals in black suits pulled in, and their apparent supervisor was checking them in. The clerk asked him to spend a few minutes with me as they had driven up from the Bay area.

After he had his people checked in he asked me where I was going, and I told him. He said that before they left the motel the next morning , he would check on what was happening between our home and Brookings.

I had a Navy ball hat on, and he asked what part of the Navy I had served. I told him the old Security Group. He turned out to be an ASA Vet. He and his crew were headed up the coast and eventually half to Seattle Airport and the other half to the Portland Airport which both had been closed down.

My wife and I went to our favorite pizza place in Brookings. We were about it, besides a birthday party for some kids. We had a lot pizza left over for breakfast and lunch.

Early the next morning after our hotel room coffee and warmed over pizza, I went to the office. The ASA guy had left me a note in an envelope. It said that there should be no problem driving to our home that day. He recommended leaving that day and not get below half full on our gas gauge.

As we were leaving Air Force Jets were flying north bound just off the coast. We had heard high performance jets throughout the night heading north.

The trip home was non eventful. One son and his family called us shortly after we got home. They were fine, his brother was in SW Oregon on some big bike ride trying to get back home to Portland. He hitched a ride with an Oregon National Guard guy, another biker headed to the Portland Airport. This son lived a few miles from the Portland Airport. So that worked out.

Our getting back home was a piece of cake. We had friends on a tour in DC. They rented a van for the 6 of them somehow, and sent most of their luggage home via UPS. It took them 4+ days to get home.

A neighbor and their husband were in London on business, and they couldn’t get a flight back home for about a week. Another friend was in Paris and her flights from Paris to London to NYC and here were cancelled. She spent the better part of 2 weeks getting home. Friends vacationing or visiting in the MidWest or East Coast were gone for about a week.

The above were inconveniences not the horrible reality so many Americans had to face with loss of family members and friends.
