The family of a Georgia Tech student shot and killed by a campus police officer two years ago this month filed a wrongful death lawsuit Wednesday against the school, the officer and the states Board of Regents.
Schultz had previously sought mental health counseling from Georgia Tech and with professionals off campus. The lawsuit also says Georgia Tech and the University System of Georgia failed to properly accommodate students having a mental health crisis.
The lawsuit says Schultzs death was the result of Georgia Techs and the State of Georgias failure over time to properly train their personnel to act in such a way as to prevent the exclusion of persons such as Scott Schultz from the safety to which all students were entitled on the campus of Georgia Tech. Schultz, an engineering major who identified as nonbinary, was a leader in LGBTQ campus organizations.

GA FReeper ping.
Yup.
Our country used to deal with assh0les and perverts. And we were much better for it.
I was not aware that there was some law that universities — or any organization or person for that matter — must “properly accommodate students having a mental health crisis.”
Seems like a pretty vague “statute.”
The deceased left behind three suicide notes and yelled at the cops to shoot him:
In 1970 my girlfriend broke up with me. It was more than that, we were engaged. It upset me so badly that the Troy guidance counselor tried really hard to get me to see a school psychologist before dropping out.
I went ahead and dropped out. looking back I should have stayed in school. Not a bit of doubt that if I told them I was having mental problems, they would have immediately sent me to someone.
Hard to believe Georgia Tech can’t afford that.
Did you grab a knife, shout at the police to shoot you and then charge the police?
Now that I think about it I did. The cops just patted my head and told me everything was going to be better.
Looks like the family waited until the last moment before the statute of limitations ran out to serve the suit.
Nasty tactic.
Officer thinks he can finally put it behind and now the scab is pulled off the wound.
Sorry but this suicide by cop needs to be stopped by cops. Their is no reason to killed someone, when you can simply aim your gun at the perp and blow his balls off. I mean unload and pump bullets into his crotch to stop him... so he lives, miserably for the rest of his life, and most of all kill his genetic line! Once brothers start hearing that how cops will treat perps, black crime will drop by 80% overnight!
Why do you believe this individual was African American?
Never said he was. I said if the cops started shooting people in the crotch, black crime would drop
There is a Finnish battle cry from World War II called "Tulta munille" that means "fire at their balls".
You have issues pal.
Seek help.
That is not what police officers are commissioned to do. If deadly force is warranted it must be to kill or not used at all. That is also the first rule of survival.
Can't be done bro. When a dude is bopping all around, it is REALLY hard to hit him anywhere, let alone in the crotch. Not a good idea at all.
I believe the term is, "shoot to stop the threat." If the first shot hits the dude between the eyes, I would say the threat would be stopped, and to stop shooting. It just depends how many rounds it takes to stop the threat.
You haven’t been around much have you?
Never shoot to wound. Shoot to kill. I can well imagine the fun a perp and his lawyer would have witb you if you shot to castrate the perp.
Wounded perps sue. Dead ones not so much.
I agree wholeheartedly with you. IMO it’s like his parents set him up for this so they can get publicity and a huge payout. They should be charged with child abuse.
He certainly was a Ramblin’ Wreck from Georgia Tech.
