RFK wanted to investigate his brother’s death after he became President.

He believed the CIA was responsible—and he was going to take them apart piece by piece.

That is called “motive”.

“Why would the CIA want RFK dead? Motive?”

Ask LBJ, he had his reasons.

When you add up the mafia control/use of Cuba, the banking system in Cuba, the relationship between the CIA and the mafia, and the cancelled Bay of Pigs episode...there was going to be pay-back on both JFK and RFK. I think the 1970s period was this review of the CIA abuses, and some effort to lead a fair number of them to retirement early.

As President, Jack Kennedy had a liaison with an East German spy and other women who made him vulnerable to blackmail. Worse, in the deal ending the Cuban missile crisis, he had secret communications with the Soviets and made concessions to them that he failed to fully disclose to the Cabinet and the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Kennedy's administration was also loaded with security risks and he seemed poised to make imprudent cuts in US nuclear forces. And, according to Seymour Hersch, JFK was also personally involved in bribe schemes in the defense industry.

Supposedly, RFK believed that elements of the CIA and Lyndon Johnson had been responsible for the murder of his brother and that as President, he, RFK, would have the power to launch a new investigation that would prove that to be true.

As crazy as that may sound, there was sworn testimony to the House Assassinations Committee from a Cuban emigre that he had seen Oswald with a man he knew as Maurice Bishop, which was the cover name for David Atlee Philips, a senior CIA covert action officer. In addition, the CIA withheld from the Warren Commission and later investigations what they knew about Oswald's mysterious trip to Mexico and his activities there.

At the very least, the CIA seems to have had an active intelligence file on Oswald and had him under surveillance but somehow missed his preparations to kill Kennedy. Or, maybe they assisted Oswald and perhaps others in the assassination plot.

A late friend of mine who was a retired spy for US Military intelligence told me that he believed Castro was responsible for the murder of JFK. The plot could not be exposed though because doing so was thought likely to lead to a nuclear war when the US public demanded action against Castro. Was that true, or did my friend buy into a CIA cover story peddled by his good friend, David Atlee Philips?

Whatever the truth is, the failure of President Trump to carry out his promise to release the mass of secret files related to the JFK assassination suggests that some unseemly and disquieting truths are yet to be revealed.
