I’ve had two friends serve as Metro Nashville police officers. Both were shot in the face. Leroy Wheeler was killed on 5 November 1973. Joe Cooper survived his shooting after endless medical and dental care. Both were shot by Black teens who are taught that they don’t get a square deal.

Police work is dangerous and is likely to become even more dangerous in the years ahead. I salute all those who chose to wear a badge and perform those duties.

Agree. I couldn’t imagine some of the things they now have to go through. Our nation has taken such a turn for the worse.
