A newly devised type of silica bead could help save melting glaciers from the onslaught of climate change, scientists say.

The innovative new approach, developed by a company called Ice911, employs minuscule beads of 'glass' which are spread across the surface layer of glaciers. There they help to reflect light beating down on them and slow what has become a tremendous pace of melt throughout the last several years.

'I just asked myself a very simple question: Is there a safe material that could help replace that lost reflectivity?' Found of Ice911, Leslie Field, told Mother Jones.

What they landed on was a silica-based substance - silica being a common ingredient in many rocks - that is able to safely supplement thinning ice and help bolster its resilience against the sun and increasingly warmer weather. So far, the novel new method, which is being tested in Alaska, has been shown to be surprisingly effective.

This is called climate geoengineering. The leaders of this group has stated a few years ago they already made the decision to kill tens of thousands of people to "save" millions without any evidence what so ever that anyone would be saved. It makes no sense why they're not in jail.

I could literally see a war fought against climate psychos like this in the future. We’ve heard plans of building space shields or scattering particles in the atmosphere to block the sun and absorb CO2. The problem being who their wacko ideas will impact, being everyone. At the very least I could see countries like Russia or China, the climate change DO NOT GAF countries sending assassins out for the more crazy groups. Truly, if there is a man made Armageddon scenario that could take out mankind, it’s going to being one of these death cult like environmentalists or AGW “warmies” that brings it on.

Apparently these beads are tiny like grains of sand. Probably millions of them in a few handfuls.

Lenses don't “magnify” ,(as in “increase”) light. A lens can concentrate light — but, these beads would sit on the glacier, and would not add to the light that the glacier absorbs— unless, they actually reduce reflectivity, rather than increase it. There are many reasons this is a bad idea — but, the magnifying-glass hypothesis isn't one of them.
