Registration doesn’t mean anything as to views. Because Florida is a closed primary state, and Republicans more likely to win the general elections for the important offices, the hard core leftist third party kooks and smarter Democrats here register as Republican in order to be able to vote in the Republican primaries, where there voting will have a chance of doing damage. Their votes would be, in their view, wasted, if they voted in the Democratic primary, especially where seats aren’t even contested. So in the GOP primary they vote for the Republican least likely to beat the Democrat in the general election.
