OXNARD, Calif. The City of Oxnard has received grant funding to offer free fruit trees to residents. Qualified applicants will have the opportunity to have their choice of a lime, lemon, peach, orange, or avocado tree planted in their front yard.
All Oxnard residents are encouraged to apply, but grant requirements will prioritize applicants who reside in neighborhoods that are disproportionately affected by pollution, based upon CalEnviroScreen scores. According to these scores, priority neighborhoods include:
Tierra Vista
Mar Vista
Five Points Northeast
Rose Park
La Colonia
Cabrillo
Requests from communities outside of the priority areas will be added to a waitlist and considered if there is a low response from priority neighborhoods.
Trees will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Homeowners will be responsible for maintaining the trees per specifications outlined in the agreement form that is required with their application. One tree will be provided per eligible household.
Funding for this program was provided by the California Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund through the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protections Urban and Community Forestry Program.

(More fuel for wildfires.)

Great album.

And then fine them if they plant it a foot from where permitted
Plant avocados in your front yard and become a homeless magnet.

More Democ-Rats?
Fruit rats, or roof rats as they’re commonly called, thrive in warm, fruit-bearing areas. According to the University of California Statewide Integrated Pest Management Program, roof rats are especially fond of avocados and citrus and often eat fruit that is still on the tree. Learning how to permanently get rid of fruit rats is a must if you want to keep your home and produce as fresh and uncontaminated as possible.
Must be some other unstated plan involved because there’s no reason to choose a fruit tree, or its location in front not back yards, for the purpose of ‘greening the planet’ when there are so many other kinds of trees that require less work and don’t have to be picked up after.
Is the city planning on having homeowners do the work while indigents and illegals raid their trees?
Actually, that is something pretty cool. I wouldn’t mind a free fruit tree...But then I would have to live in Oxnard...
Why are you against saving the planet?
Fruit trees will thrive in Oxnard.
Ventura County was the location of the Garden of Eden.
Actual fruit trees or just regular trees identifying as fruit trees?
More fruits for the nuts.
The planet needs ‘saving’?
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
City is trying to get residents of certain neighborhoods to plant fruit trees in front yard to keep them from parking multiple cars on the lawn area, some of them junkers.
The fruit trees offered could be the best trees for the region that sucks up CO2. In other words, they can’t hurt. And if you want to shut liberals up, when they mention CO2, the answer to that is plant more trees.
“Homeowners will be responsible for maintaining the trees per specifications outlined in the agreement form that is required with their application. One tree will be provided per eligible household.”
‘Comrade, the fruit tree has died from your failure to maintain the agreement. Off to the gulag with you!’
Whose going to buy the spray and spray them for the insect infestation that will surely come?
