A friend of the Elijah Cummings left Mitch McConnell stunned by refusing to shake the Senate Majority Leader's hand at the late congressman's memorial service in the Capitol.
Footage of the moment, which has been viewed 2.1 million times since it was uploaded to Twitter on Thursday, shows Bobby Rankin shaking hands with a number of lawmakers.
Rankin is one of the men listed as a pallbearer for Cummings's funeral on Friday.
In the video, Rankin hugs House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-SC) before shaking the hands of House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD), House Minority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).
But Rankin bypasses McConnell (R-KY), who was standing next to Schumer, as he goes to hug Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).
McConnell is clearly left stunned as Schumer can barely hold back a sly grin.

Cummings was a leftwing communist & vile racist who supported terrorism against our Constitutional Republic.
That he was honored speaks volumes of the corruption & treason we face.

McConnell should have seen this coming — by attending the funeral of a politician who was so bad for America.
Elijah is dead........ America should rejoice at his death. He has done as much harm to our Republic as any congressman in history
And Schumer had a “sly grin.”
Nothing says “ I’m grieving my illustrious colleague” more than smirking at a rude snub in the receiving line,
Some people take being an asshat to its highest levels. Just shine them on!
Usually, people are not rude to me because I take pains to be polite to everyone. But in the rare circumstance when it happens, I smile and wish them a good day. Or, whatever pleasantry might be appropriate in the circumstance. Often, they are startled by my polite response. I suspect people who act like a male sex organ, which has a head but no brain, are looking for an opportunity to blow off their political steam. Your polite response removes that as a possibility and they don’t know how to react.
