Appearing on Fridays edition of Real Time, the always hyperbolic MSNBC talking head Donny Deutsch referred to Donald Trump as an all-out dictator and warned that whatever the worst tyrants in history were capable of doing, he is capable of doing. Host Bill Maher also subscribed to the Trump is a dictator narrative, arguing that he checked off more items on the dictator checklist over the past week and worrying that eventually, the only people remaining in the Trump administration will be the Goebbels, comparing the Presidents closest advisors to Hitlers propaganda minister.
As he introduced his panel, Maher noted how he has many times read the dictator checklist on our show, the things Donald Trump does that are like a dictator. According to Maher, Trump is a dictator because he appoints family members, holds scary rallies, says lock up my opponents, is in it for personal financial gain, (and) loves other dictators.
Reflecting on the events of the past week, Maher argued that the President added like five to the list by calling people human scum, physically disrupting hearings (and) investigating the investigators. When Maher asked Deutsch to weigh in, the comparisons of Trump to a dictator continued. Deutsch began his rant by complaining that claiming Trump has authoritative tendencies does not go far enough, declaring he is an all-out dictator.

If he really was a dictator, they wouldn’t be on TV saying he was a dictator.
He’s like Gurgles!
Al Sharpton
Tyrants are defined by tyrannical behavior, not the reporters view of his capability.
Shakespeare should have also written the line “secondly destroy the Universities” after his most famous anti-BAR line, “first kill all the lawyers”
If he really was a dictator, they wouldnt be on TV saying he was a dictator.
________
Beautifully said. He’s too unhinged to realize it.
Danny boy needs to stop smoking that stuff.
If TRUMP were really a nazi, the tattooed freaks would be lampshades by now.
he is an all-out dictator.
If only. Then we’d have a wall, the Muslim travel ban, an end to birthright citizenship, an end to chain migration. It’s amazing how the “all-out dictator” is having trouble getting his agenda implemented.
Yup. He surely wouldn’t be waiting on the feckless disloyal opposition to vote on such things.
I'm sorry, Donna. You were saying?
Barack Obama locked up at least 2 filmmakers and spied on journalists (wiretapped). He also weaponized the IRS, EPA, and FBI to target conservatives who were not accused of any militant crimes, just political opposition.
Barack Obama was involved in coup to take down his successor and change interdepartmental rules weeks before he left office.
F-that guy.
Butt, butt, butt-——————NaughtZees and moose limbs? Who knew? Well, actually, a lot of us did, and do.
Yep
And does the Press.
If he was a dictator, all these annoying poop flies would be in jail. Last I heard, there were not any indictments.
Wow, projecting Obama big time!
I sort of like my “fah-Q”. May have to do T-shirts.

A community is low on a Respect scale if common courtesy is withheld from large groups of people on account of their political attitudes.
...in a downright despotism opposition is dangerous whether the despotism is official or whether it is unofficial...
A community rates low on the Information scale when the press, radio, and other channels of communication are controlled by only a few people and when citizens have to accept what they are told.
See how a community trains its teachers
...these students are being taught to accept uncritically whatever they are told. Questions are not encouraged.
And if books and newspapers and the radio [and facebook and youtube and...] are officially controlled the people will read and accept exactly what the few in control want them to. Government censorship is one form of control. The newspaper that breaks the government censorship rule can be suspended. It is also possible for newspapers and other lines of communication to be controlled by private interests...

The newspapers of a real democracy meet these tests...
