I read an article the other day stating Irish people had settled in America before Columbus arrived. The author had looked into the notes of someone with Columbus who described tall, red haired- grey eyed people who's chief had painted himself much like Gaelic chieftans were known to do. There were also some stones found with markings not familiar to Native American languages that were translated from Gaelic. The area I'm referring to is in SC near Georgia. Have been trying to find additional information on this but haven't been successful yet.

Of course they sailed to them. Airplanes had not been invented.

There's an interesting book out titled
The Key wherein the author tracks what he claims was two massive pre-historical migrations via place names of Pacific islands.
What intrigued me was that he said that places with double names, like Bora Bora, Pago Pago and Walla Walla were the equivalents of saying "We went no further - end of the line".
