All tap water in Los Cabos, Baja Sur, where I’ll be getting dental work done, is the output of desalination processing with chemicals added to prevent water-borne diseases. But many people still drink bottled water out of fear/habit.
Dengue fever is a greater concern, but the actual incidence most years is low.

Depends on where you’ve been living - lots of folks on well water don’t have the same issues because they’ve been “inoculated”...
