Maybe not just the admiral:

“Chief of Naval Operations, Adm. Mike Gilday, supports his commanders in executing their roles, to include Rear Adm. Green,” said Gilday’s spokesman, Cmdr. Nate Christensen, in an email to Navy Times.

Cmdr. Sarah Higgins, spokesperson for Navy Secretary Richard V. Spencer, echoed that he also “supports his commanders in executing their roles, to include Rear Adm. Green.”

Trump being the Commander-in-Chief has no choice. He cannot back down lest he be seen as CiC in name only which would be a very dangerous. Our adversaries are watching this closely for signs of weakness.

I’m not sure it rises to the level of insubordination, but what do you think Trump should do with those above Rear Admiral Green in the chain of command? Get rid of all of them?

Maybe he should. I don’t know, but I trust his judgment.

It may turn out the President’s schedule is booked, and he may have to report multiple times, during all weather conditions. It would suck if he had to stand there all day in the rain and cold until he remembered how the chain of command works.

I completely agree. If I was the C-in-C,Green would be out of the Navy by the end of the day.

In general insubordination is not tolerated in any organization being it military or not. A leader cannot allow challenges to their authority or let subordinates undermine them. At that point respect breaks down.

This is a pivotal decision for Trump. It may be a messy process but its imperative that he do this swiftly. No reassignment; no demotion. All defiant parties must go.

While I sympathize with your comments this is not time for playing games with this guy or the Navy bureaucrats. The only message to the defiant admiral should be its time for you to retire. And the same fate awaits any one else who refuses to act on orders.
