God rest their souls and give comfort tho those knew and loved them.
####.
One of my squadrons of reserve IPs was at Vance. This is tough on the base and community.
Colonel, USAF (ret)
I have a nephew who is a pilot and trains pilots there. Prayers up.
Not much to go on. Formation landing accident? Upside down. Not good.
Upside down is a BAD thing. Obvious can’t eject and the canopy isn’t going to bear the weight of the aircraft.
We had one do that while I was at Columbus AFB. Lost two pilots as well. IIRC it was a maintenance issue.
I know two former Air Force Academy graduates who taught cadets to fly this model jet. Both of them said there were very serious problems with oxygen supply systems; the USAF knew of them and refused to address them. At some point, both of them told the Air Force that they would no longer fly the planes because of the documented and well-known problems.
Yep, not a good day.
Looks like it went off the runway and turned over.
RIP.
Expertise in one field rarely translates to expertise in others!
There are exceptions...
Like Trump!
Not the T-38, probably the T-6A which student pilots fly before they transition to T-38s. Both types are assigned to Vance.
I stand corrected.
Pretty good looking bird, considering she is 53 years old.
