We ask every drug addict to sign up for free drugs for two years... Uncle Sam becomes the biggest drug dealer in the world.

After 6 months of limited income and an inability to buy off Mexican officials WE buy Mexican officials and start the real war.

When the two years are up for our addicts we offer treatment and social workers... takes all the glamor away...

We should not cross the border.>>>>>>>>>>

We should, by mutual agreement with Mexico , a negotiated cartel interdiction zone. Pursuit of an enemy into another nation for a reasonable distance is an established principle
of International Law. Without that, we continue more of the same.

At the very least, negotiating with Mexico on it will motivate Mexico to throw military resources into areas where the cartels are now in control, the cartels are establishing their own local sovereignty, where the cartels themselves ARE the government. Its important that we raise the issue.

All of those things are acts of war.>>>>>>>>>>>>

I do not propose that we act unilaterally, but with the consent and support of the Mexican government, which has lost its sovereignty along our Southern border.

Our negotiation would be couched in aiding Mexico to restore her sovereignty in those areas where it has been lost to the cartels.

We should negotiate a 200 mile interdiction zone, share our intel, and work with the consent and cooperation of Mexico
to end this problem. Mexico is actually losing control of large swaths of its own territory.

The very lucrative economic ties that Mexico has with us should be placed on the table to grease the rails.

Put the cartels on the terrorist group list now. At least start by going after cartel financial infrastructure.

Mexico is a kleptocracy cartel run country. It is a mire that will make Afghanistan look like a picnic.

there will be no good guys.

Stay out of the country and let them fix themselves. That is the only way the country will become strong.

Protect our citizens and our borders.

We were overrun and continue to be overrun.

Watch what happens when we interdict, have a firm border, and execute dealers and cartel members. Price goes way up. Use diminishes.

We have cheap drugs on the streets now.

Europe is being over run by Libyans because they have leftists manned boats bringing them to Europe, and Europe has no will. It is being invaded and it is taking it.

we will be invaded and decimated also if we continue this course.

it must stop. and stop now.

I do get your point. By decriminalizing weed we could/should take a lot of profit out it. Many (but not all) of the bad things about marijuana stem from its illegality. My point is that the cartels have invested a lot of time and money in the cultivation, distribution and sale of it and I don’t know if they are willing to walk away from the business.

It's not about the cartels walking away, but about their customers walking away from them to the legal shops (if not excessively taxed).

Good point. Designating the drug cartels as terrorist organizations would probably be followed up with financial moves, travel bans, and the like. Not military action.
It might mean that anyone in the drug trade — from the cartel members to the street dealers to the junkies — could be charged with giving material support to terrorism.

After the 9/11 attacks, there were news stories about the price of heroin going up due to the increased security at the Mexican border. Would that work now? With the integration of manufacturing across the border, would the drugs and illegal aliens just get shipped in with the auto parts?
