Why are we training foreign students at our military bases and academies?
We sell them a lot of equipment that requires they be trained for.
IMHO, that training needs to be done in Saudi Arabia from now on.
There are NO safe muslims.
Any of them can suddenly start following the example and instructions of their prophet.

Back in the early 70’s we were training Iranian pilots at our military bases.
In the late 80’s, I went through basic Morse code training at NTTC Pensacola (now CID Pensacola, I believe), and there were Iraqi military personnel on base.
I don’t think it’s a good idea, period, but I don’t make policy.
It is often part and parcel with our defense equipment sales contracts. They buy our jets, we train them how to fly and maintain them.
I think that’s a very good question. And if there is a strategic reason, such as being part of a treaty, then are we being fully compensated? And I mean “fully”.
They are “allies”.
We do it so that we have leverage over them.
You might want to narrow down that question to certain countries as I was a foreign military officer who received training at an American base.
It’s actually very common practice when we sell armaments ie. planes, tanks etc. to foreign countries that we train their troops in how to operate them.
There are generally hundreds of foreign soldiers at various bases at any given time training on arms we have sold them.
My wife was a training coordinator in the Philippine navy. Her job was to review applications for training in the USA, and send them here.
One day they found that many of the men were bringing their wives to the USA, and then returning home without them. Very mysterious. One of the gals in the department was selling the “Wifes Seat” for 5 thousand bucks. The girl doing it got out of the office and to the USA just before the shit hit the fan. She purchased a house in the states for about 250,000 bucks. So I guess she got about 50 women over here. Undocumented immigrants.
Third world corruption.
We train Saudis in part so we can use bases in Saudi when we need them.
That’s EXACTLY what I want to know
I asked that same question in the 50’s when I was a grad student.
So they can commit another 9/11. Saudi flight/pilot students? How damn dumb can our government and military be?
