You can’t write a law targeting an individual.
That would set a precedent for the privacy rights of all future Presidents. I don't think Roberts wants that on his legacy, which is already bad enough.

Is a mistake to assume that because Ginsberg put a hold on it that she would vote to knock it down. Those are two different things.

The previous president (Zero) declared that he deemed the Senate was in recess and then proceeded to make some recess appointments. Zero was sued and the case went up to SCOTUS which then bitch-slapped Zero in a 9-0 decision(!), schooling him that under the US Constitution, only the Senate can declare when it is in recess.
BTW, this was an obvious unconstitutional abuse of office by Zero, a clearly impeachable offense. But the GOP controlled House and Senate just let it slide…

It is wonderful if in at least some cases a Justice does the correct thing at the right time
And walk a couple of miles a day, weather permitting. Also in the transplant protocol for a liver. And yet, the important thing is that I wish that the 83 year old would not have been surprised and just kicked that bully’s ass. Biden would have been crying like the little girls that he sniffed their hair.

Even though RBG is a totally rabid left-wing zealot, I think that even she is smart enough to know that this obvious overreach will backfire. The House Dems (and NY state AG) cannot justify plowing through POTUS, his business and family (and business associates) tax and financial records for merely a fishing expedition.
We already know that if Trump, his business, or his family (and business associates) had ever done anything wrong, the IRS (and NY state tax authorities) would have been all over this like stink on Schiff!
Maybe the Pope has some ideas for her.
