What Trump has done to the courts, explained
Vox.com ^ | 12/9/19 | Ian Millheiser

In less than three years as president, President Trump has done nearly as much to shape the courts as President Obama did in eight years.

Trump hasn’t simply given lots of lifetime appointments to lots of lawyers. He’s filled the bench with some of the smartest, and some of the most ideologically reliable, men and women to be found in the conservative movement. Long after Trump leaves office, these judges will shape American law — pushing it further and further to the right even if the voters soundly reject Trumpism in 2020.

Let’s start with some raw numbers. Both Obama and Trump appointed two justices to the Supreme Court but Trump’s impact on the highest Court far exceeds Obama’s, because Trump replaced the relatively moderate conservative Justice Anthony Kennedy with the hardline conservative Brett Kavanaugh (that was after appointing conservative Neil Gorsuch to fill Antonin Scalia’s vacant seat). Obama’s appointees — Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan — largely maintained the balance of power on a conservative Court, while Trump has shoved that Court even further to the right.

Oh, and two more Circuit judges will be confirmed to the 9th circuit this week!

The 9th circuit will have a 16-13 Democrat majority, as opposed to the 23-6 Democrat majority at the beginning of Trump’s term.

There will be far fewer society-changing rulings going forward!

” the hardline conservative Brett Kavanaugh “

Really!
Does this author expect anyone to read after that?

And Vox is a Leftist site. Weird.

Trump is paving the way for re-establishment of slavery for blacks and the deportation and eventual extermination of all LGBTQs! (/liberal)

After this impeachment they’ll start on trying to impeach Trump’s judicial appointments.

I told many friends ahead of 2016 that it was vitally important with regards to the Supreme Court. I admit that rejuvenating the lower courts’ totally eluded my thoughts.

I’m SO glad we elected a PRESIDENT who saw the whole chessboard.

Last paragraph:

The truth is, by worshipping at the altar of Trump, Republicans haven’t simply ensured conservative dominance of one branch of government. They may have entrenched conservative governance for decades.

What does it matter that there are these judges when Trump’s AG picks never bring any democrap criminal cases to them?

Two thoughts.

1. Ha Ha Ha Ha Suck it Vox.

2. Still a ways to go just to counter balance the damage Obama did. 7 more Circuit Court judges and about 150 District Court judges before the courts will have simply been restored to where they were in 2008.

Actually I believe they will try to impeach Pence first. In November numerous news stories tried to tie Pence to all of what is going on now with Ukraine. Then they will focus on impeaching the judicial appointments. The reasoning here is that even if a judge is impeached it leaves a vacancy which can be filled in with another conservative as long as a Repube is in office.

BO was actually MUCH MUCH LAZIER than anyone ever really gives him credit for. His handlers did everything for him (for his whole career!).

this is why we need to make sure after the trump presidency is over that we get another republican in....we need to seal the conservative take over of the court so that all hope is lost for activists wanting to use the courts as a way of enacting policies that could not be brought through congress
