I would be careful. We are in the same position the Dems and their Fake News toadies were in 2016. They believed the polls then and got the shock of their lives
The WW-2 generation has mostly died. This is an electorate made up of people who lived their whole life under socialism. There been a lot of social media posting about the “conservatives want to take healthcare away from children and push old people off cliffs” type propaganda being posted on places like Facebook.
Very high turn out means all the polling models were way off so it now uncharted territory.
Who showing up? People who want to keep their freebies going or people pissed off that they still are hearing about Brexit years after voting to exit?
We will not know until tonight and I do not feel good about this one at all.
If I am wrong and the Tories win big, I will happily eat all the crow you wish to serve me.
Polls in the UK are set to close within the hour. Within 30-45 minutes we should have the first riding returns come in.
There are two possible projections: a majority Conservative government or a minority Conservative government.
The votes in the Midlands bellwethers will never inform us about the outcome tonight.
You are right.
Most “populist” elections in Europe were against the migrants so the natives can preserve their social benefits....not to turn more toward capitalism and individual liberty.
Tories need to get around 40% to get a majority government.
Theresa May screwed the pooch and fell short. Boris Johnson needs to exceed that tonight.
Brexit is dead with another hung Parliament.
In 2015, it was down to the wire. If its the same with the last batch of polls, there will be no Brexit.
Im not surprised at the high turnout. This is most fateful election in British history. Every one seems to have an opinion.
Well find out soon whether or not the voters have buyers remorse about the 2015 referendum.
On election night in 2016 I was on FR here in the 7-8 hour and there were posters saying it was all over for Trump and that H had won Florida from what they were seeing and thus the election was over too. The lead was switching back and forth admittedly. I at that point quit and went and watched a John Wayne movie because the last thing I wanted to watch was a cackling Hillary. I went to bed after the movie and eventually woke up around 3 and feeling a need to know for sure what happened caught Trump’s acceptance speech. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least.
But there’s another group that would be showing up. People who voted for Brexit, who are fed up with EU bureaucracy trying to micromanage everyone’s lives, and are fed up with Labour and other leftist and wobbly parties blocking it in Parliament, and the British fake news trying to scare everyone into either opposing it, or sitting passively while it’s scuttled. In short, the same sort of people who attend Trump rallies in the USA.
