Complete garbage, this is all a means of control. Impeachment is now the harness with which congress will restrain Trump. It’s out there, if Trump does not toe the line they will pull the trigger. Where are the fact finding hearings in the senate? Will mcconnell put the senate in recess so Trump can make recess appointments? I think not. They’ve queued up impeachment so they can remove Trump in short order if he steps out of line.
That’s the most rational observation of this situation as I’ve seen.

If that's their way of thinking, they are dumbing than anyone could have ever guessed. Trying to tame Trump would be like trying to sit and pet a rabid dog, and I have to believe that McConnell knows that. If the Senate attempts to throw Trump under the bus, it will likely be a full-on war with Trump being the B-52 with a full payload. Time and again, he's proven he's the master of social media, with a very strong support base to boot.

If your rationale is correct, McConnell is toast, as is the GOP in 2020. He’s not stupid enough to be part of any game like that, not with the support Trump has amongst conservatives. And he must know that if you give Nutsy an inch, she’ll immediately try to take a yard. McConnell is too egotistical to allow the Senate to be dictated to by the HOR, no matter how much he may or may not like Trump.
