CFLs have mercury and that’s what hit the market first...and they’re stupid cheap.
LEDs have been big money savers for us. Their economic superiority is undeniable, especially in warm climates where the heat load of incandescents costs hundreds to overcome. We installed over fifty in our new house three years ago, and have had to replace exactly one. Just one summer of lower electricity bills paid for them all. My 401K should be such a great investment.
The “rule” ended good paying jobs for one of the poorest communities around, East Cleveland, OH.

And ended them for no good reason, btw. I had one of these dandy new bulbs catch on fire in my place, emitting the smoke from hell.
CFLs are obsolete and quickly disappearing from the shelves. Mercury is irrelevant to the light bulb conversation.

Also the LED Headlights have to go!!!! They are blinding and dangerous.

Years ago when this was first introduced, it was a bad idea and a mistake.
NOW, a whole “light bulb generation” later, it’a different story.

Why the love affair for an inferior product? The filaments always breaking if you just bump them. They were always burning out. You could burn yourself from the wasted energy given off as heat. There was NOTHING to love about incandescent light bulbs.
The time for incandescent light bulbs has passed.

Another good idea introduced poorly.
The technology for 1.6 gpf toilets wasn’t ready when this law was introduced, causing problems.
Now, a whole “toilet flushing generation” later, things are just fine. BILLIONS (maybe trillions) of gallons of water not polluted.
Low flow toilets have saved Americans a lot of money. Buying the water in the first place and then paying for it again on the way out the sewer through charges for that.
MOST FLUSHES ARE FOR URINE! ANY toilet can flush urine with ONE flush. IF you need to flush two or three times for #2, you are STILL only using the same amount of water used in one flush of an old toilet.
EAT MORE FRUIT!
Yeah, it was mostly LEDs and 72-watt “replaces 100W” stuff. There were some expensive impact-resistant 100W bulbs, but I never did check lumens.

Plus lower the cost of electricity.
In California it is around .22 cents a kw and climbing.You save one way and the gov’t costs you more another way.
