In an extensive report that is part of its Privacy Project, The New York Times revealed Thursday that it has gained access to cell phone tracking data for millions of Americans and was able to rather easily track the movements of regular Americans as well as high-profile and powerful figures, including President Trump himself details of whose actions the Times published in a follow-up report.
In its initial report, titled Twelve Million Phones, One Dataset, Zero Privacy, the Times warns that if you were able to see the data which they obtained from a single private cell phone app company, you might never use your phone the same way again.
The data was provided to Times Opinion by sources who asked to remain anonymous because they were not authorized to share it and could face severe penalties for doing so, the Times explains. The sources of the information said they had grown alarmed about how it might be abused and urgently wanted to inform the public and lawmakers.
The single data file the Times obtained is by far the largest and most sensitive ever to be reviewed by journalists, the Times claims, containing more than 50 billion location pings from the phones of more than 12 million Americans as they moved through several major cities, including Washington, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles. That data covers a period of several months in 2016 and 2017, the Times notes.

“....The walk, the waddle, feathers, the quack...the Leaker Duck....”
Clapper, Brennan and/or Shitt for Brains.
Or maybe John Brennan or other 'higher' up intelligence (police state) thugs...
James Comey? David Ignatious?
Or maybe John Brennan or other 'higher' up intelligence (police state) thugs...
James Comey? David Ignatious? Adam Schiff? Democrat members of the House Intelligence Committee? They all work hand in hand with the corrupt press.
Surprising how the NYT is capable of doing journalism at times.
A Leak from the NSA perhaps. I wouldn’t be surprised. The Deep State lives.
Where does the media stop and the Democrat Party begin?
What kind of journalism makes you reprint fake information provided by traitors to the flag trying to circumvent the constitution?
Clearly the Times must have outsourced this work as they don't have a single journalist working for them.
CLASS ACTION these bastards out of existence
Folks, the NYT actually is doing good work on this.
They are telling us that when we use certain apps on our phone, and allow them to run in the background and access our locations, that these app companies compile detailed logs on every place we go. Its even possible to see a nuance to determine what room in your home is your bathroom versus your bedroom, over time.
This has been known for a long time, but the NYT got a dump of some collected data to show it.
Use your browsers to log into the websites. Dont let your phone browser have GPS access. Dont let apps run in the background, access GPS or microphone, etc. unless the foreground app (when you may really need it).
The data wants to be free, as they say. You need to curb it.
The phone app in question is likely Twitter or Facebook.
If it wasn’t for my wife I go back to a home ground line.
Twitter is my guess.
I hope they get sued out of existence for this.
In other words, the times solicited these people to break the law, is clearly and accessory before the fact. Prosecute the corporation and sentence it.
I think a Corporation could be “put in jail” for 6 months (or another period) during which they are forbidden from conducting any business. Yep, that would do it.
Strange the the President would go back to Mara Lago via the middle bridge (Royal Palm Way). I’m pretty sure the south bridge is closed to traffic when he’s in town, and he seems to avoid disruptions as much as possible. (I’ve been down there several times coincident with his visits, most recently over Thanksgiving, and never had any delays because of him. My place is just south of the middle bridge on the Intracoastal.)
