For years, Maya Rockeymoore Cummings ran a charity so closely intertwined with her for-profit consulting firm that they shared the same employees, the same office space and the same director - her.
The private firm carried out the charity's mission of promoting public health and addressing racial and economic inequity under a cost-sharing agreement that gave the firm a 5 percent management fee. Rockeymoore Cummings signed a contract on behalf of both parties to set up the unusual relationship.
She disclosed the arrangement to the Internal Revenue Service initially, but in subsequent years she checked "no" on 990 tax forms asking whether the charity did business with any entities owned by its director. A "yes" answer would have required her to provide more financial details. Lawyers who specialize in nonprofits say that's to allow scrutiny by both the government and the public of whether the nonprofit's funds are being used for charitable purposes, rather than private gain.
The charity - which was the subject of a complaint to the IRS by a watchdog group in May - faced other significant accounting issues, tax filings show: One tax filing left out revenue and expenses; another overstated revenue by $433,642, more than a quarter of its budget. A Kansas-based foundation said it stopped funding the charity amid questions about how its money was spent.

She must be freakin' out that the money train dwindled and the one person who could cover it all up has now assumed room temperature. Darn the luck.
Its not a bug, its a feature!
Sloppy accounting, funding debts: A look at Rockeymoore Cummings’ charity
—
Sloppy. That’s a funny word choice to use for corrupt.
excuses, they are only dumb when they want to be in the spotlight of law enforcement and jail time
WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?????
Washington Post reporting news. I hesitate to read it, you know it will find a way to insult President Trump.
And MRs. Cummings just might lose her election for congress.
Sloppy again? Why are the elite so darn sloppy?
She was tackling economic inequity personally.
Having prepared a lot of forms 990, I can tell you that misreporting dealing business with herself, commingling staff, etc., was not accidental. Apparently the IRS is only interested in collecting paperwork. Note that the only reason the IRS looked into her fraud was because of a “watchdog group”. I bet the work product of her charity was political rabble-rousing to help Cummings election.
The IRS ought to review 990 filings of all relatives of politicians and government employees.
Most of this is from last May when this corruption by Cummings came to light.

Maya Cummings, Rep Cummings wife, may be in a heap of trouble with the IRS. Millions of dollars.

The IRS has a reputation for not fooling around when folks break the law. This will be a good chance to see how they treat a Black person who is also a Democrat.
Maya RockyBullwinkle: Hey Elijah, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat!Leave it to the imagination as to what emerges from the hat.
Elijah Cummings: But that trick never works!
MB: Nothin up my sleeve
if you want to make money, do what the politicians do...................
We have an old friend who works for the IRS and says that blacks do get a pass on things that would send us to jail. Prejudice of low expectations.
If the WaPo is reporting these things, just imagine how bad it really is.
So true.
Black democrats? The IRS will probably give them a free pass.
That’s what the DSM called the FBI’s criminal actions in the Horowitz report - sloppy.
LOL! Posts BUMP!
The two even shared the same telephone number.
It says to me that the Democrat elites have decided that she is a bad candidate and want to force her out of the race early. Why else go after a black woman who is the widow of a black “hero”?
