He's a genius. I would argue for Jonathan Turley, but Turley's advantage of being thoroughly saturated in the limited history of impeachment law is probably countered by Dersh's uncanny ability to absolutely know what the opponent is going to do next, and then Alan takes away the opponent's oxygen on the spot.
Here's the downsides with hiring AlanDersh: he plays the long game, and not likely to go down swinging on behalf of anyone but himself, particularly in a room full of politicians; he's probably uninterested in expanding the Senate trial to the Biden's or even the whistleblower; and finally, what if he quits you? No one needs those optix.
He also has an Epstein problem
I think Dershowitz could be a distraction if directly involved. He does a good job on the outside.

Trump doesn’t need TV lawyers in love with the sound of their own voice. He needs trial lawyers who have Trumps best interest in mind and not their own.
Durham is doing the heavy work. People tend to forget that his initial inquiry into players who manipulated FISA courts is now a CRIMINAL investigation. Durham now has the FISA lead judge to bolster his efforts with her recent comments. There will be people indicted, just don't know how far up he and Barr will go. I'm waiting for leaks to come out about a Grand Jury being empaneled.
I know we're all running out of patience for perp walks, but Durham has a solid history of being thorough and getting convictions in large cases. Fighting the Swamp with all their political acumen and their attorneys will take some time. Forget what Lindsey does with his political show, Durham is the real deal and has the real power. Stand-by for this summer.

This would be a strategic error. The fact of the matter is Dershowitz could sabotage the effort from within if sufficient damaging material was to be found about him. This is a reality. Michael Mukasey would be a far superior choice.

Alan Dershowitz is an academic and a columnist/talk-show guest at best. He is not a practical lawyer. He thinks clients are there to give him something to strut his stuff about over at SCOTUS. This would be a mistake. You need a warrior, not a theorist.
I sure as hell wouldn’t want someone who voted for Hillary to be my attorney. That alone shows he doesn’t think straight. No one could have defended Epstein and not know he was a pedophile. Alan claims he didn’t know. He’s lying to the American people. Trump’s a fool if he picks him.
