Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said on Tuesday that President Trump's impeachment trial will be modeled after that of Bill Clinton, and that means the question of calling witnesses will be addressed as the trial proceeds -- "and not before the trial begins."

McConnell described a "Phase One" of the trial, which would include arguments from both the prosecution and the defense -- "and then a period of written questions" from senators, who are not allowed to speak during the trial.

Witnesses are the last thing either side wants or needs.

The dims have none, and the thugs are as guilty of Ukrainian laundering as they are.

he’s already caving in to the Democrats demands

No. The rules currently in force were approved by the current senate. These are the same rules he said he was going to follow without changes from the beginning. His statement is merely explaining the current rules in place.

Not paying attention or not critically thinking about what is going on. A lack of critical thinking skills is endemic with several on this forum.

Well I hope not, l don’t like the kicking the can down the road move. He left the door open. Bolton did his best to help Mitt and Schmukie. I wish Mitch had just said the Clinton rules will be used period.

McConnell will treat a make-believe case against Trump as if it is based on reality.

Something is not right.

The shooting civil war might start this year.

I agree.

I think my post was unclear.

I’m not accusing him of backing down.

I was asking rhetorical questions in the direction of democrap idiots.

You are absolutely right. He is not backing down.

"This makes no sense. There is no prosecution. As we all know, Nancy has refused to deliver the articles. So there is no valid process for an argument from the "prosecution".

There would be when there's a trial. It's about what happens then, not where it's at today.

Yep, the coward GOP are coming out from under their desks. This is going to go bad for POTUS. First sign of trouble and the GOP Senate will run for the hills.

First, the Republicans should hear all the Republican witnesses that the democrats controlling the House hearings would not allow, and that was all of them. Then they should do the same and not allow any democratic witnesses.
