On being female……

…Fellow Freepers please indulge me a bit as I begin the writing of my sixth book. Insert smile here for the title is…..”70 years old…..Time to Stop Being an Asshole”.

It’s the beginning, if you will, of my autobiography. And please understand I have not spent every minute and second of my life being an asshole. But there were plenty of moments. Plenty.

And since I can’t go back in time and change things, the second best thing is to document the many errors of my ways that my descendants can somehow benefit from what I’ve learned and perhaps avoid having to write this sort of book some day.

Before I get too far in this first essay, I do not write this to seek fame. Fame is not something I want nor will ever want. Fortune, however, well that’s a whole nother thing.

Further, EVERYONE should write their own biography. Not that I much care if anyone reads my biography save my family and DNA-sharers but I have had a fairly interesting life. For someday your descendants shall be looking for clues about their ancestors. Take the time to sit down and share it all with the world….on a Blog….on Facebook…I dunno. Maybe some of you will read others and for sure those who would not be alive save for you will want to know about you.

I begin with the realization, a MAJOR realization, of why I was once a horrid woman’s libber. It affected a huge part of my life, and not positively. The Women’s Lib movement was one of those cultural things that people, like me for example, take as reality but it wasn’t. And isn’t.

Which is not to say that my anger is not aroused from time to time about differences between men and women…not biologically necessarily, but culturally.

Yesterday I chanced upon a Facebook post by a relative. It showed pics of males emptying a dryer, doing dishes, folding clothes. The text said, to the effect, that if you had a man in your life doing any of these things that you were lucky indeed. A post meant for female readers we assume.

Of course I responded that what if a male reader had a woman doing those things. Would he not be extremely lucky? I mean who says these are all women’s jobs and we should kneel down in gratitude should a human with testicles help launder and fold his own damn clothes?

I hated being a woman.

Hated from the day I was born until….well not so much today as I look age 70 in the eye and must survive. But who in their right mind would choose, given two choices, to be the human who bleeds every month with pain and cramps. And if you don’t bleed every month you will likely give birth in 9 months, a very painful thing. This as the male partner, as much responsible for the child’s life as you who had the monthly bleed and horrific pain giving birth…the male partner had a bit of pleasure and boom, that’s his contribution.

Of course it’s way more complicated than this but…well I hated being a female.

So along comes this culture thing that allowed women to be angry and nasty and not at all pleasant to be around.

Plus, being a female is all about looks. At least I saw it that way. So here I was, one of the ugliest, fattest and let’s face it, with not the most pleasant of personalities. So at birth I was condemned with total lack of those female attributes that I needed to succeed as a female.

I was talking to my granddaughter over the holidays. I queried as to her future plans, what was very important to me.

You know what she told me? She said she thinks her looks were most important.

I was shocked speechless. Granddaughter is, I’d argue, very pretty, more of an All-American beauty but she thinks that’s most important?

I didn’t correct her. All I could think was…maybe she’s right. A pretty woman who doesn’t murder or commit too many crimes is way better off than a woman with a great brain….like me.

Thanks for indulging me as I begin to make life easier for females across the planet.

One more thing that’s been intriguing me all week....

....what the hell is it with this Meghan Markle woman?

She’s got it all....money, handsome husband who looks like he’s a nice guy....cute baby with a dumb name.

I don’t understand what is with those two.

They want to leave Britain, live in Canada or some such.

Meghan Markle is an idiot as I see it.

Never miss a Sunday here and seldom post, but must chime in. Your post about your bio is hilarious. Since you're only 70, you have to start working on your stand up routine.

I realize you'll have some serious stuff too, but especially love the title. Sign me up as your first sale.

This is true. Everyone should write it down.

Laughed so hard when I read this.

We have had international students stay in our house over the years. They were being mentored by my husband as they got ready to write their speciality board exams. One of them sent me a pic they took of my husband next to the dishwasher.

Husband of mine would never put a dish into the dishwasher and the student figured this out.

The student passed his exams with honors.

Love is blind as they say.
