its like these greenies who so love animals that they feed and cuddle fawns because they’re “abandoned”.....
FR’s connection to history blows my mind sometimes.
The group, which includes a French woman, two Brazilians, two Argentines and a Chilean, were condemned for their alleged “crime against cultural heritage” committed at the UNESCO World Heritage Site
They probably met on some social media poop group. Morons.
“I just cant imagine that a Peruvian prison would be a place where Id like to stay. I dont think Id even be a little tempted to mess with their stuff.”
I’ve watched some shows about prisons in Central and South America. No way possible would I even jaywalk or litter in one of those countries.
In many of the prisons the guards rarely enter the prison grounds. The interior is run by the gangs. Everything from food to water to safety is controlled by the gangs.
There are no cells like American prisons, just buildings inside a wall. The gangs will control a building or a section of a building. They keep lookout against raiders from other gangs.
Food and water are handed out every other day. The gang leaders will task members to go to the front gate to pick up food rations. Water is retrieved from a rusty pipe that is liable to go dry at any time. Water is usually short.
Murders and rapes are a common occurrence, hence the need to be gang affiliated. Gang affiliation also means a share of food rations.
Homosexuals and foreigners are not allowed in the gangs and must scrounge for themselves. Sometimes foreigners can buy some protection with cash. Sometimes not.
They make the worst American prisons look like a day at the beach.
When I was in graduate school, I was in the department office for some reason when an elderly gentleman came in briefly. After he left, one of the staff told me that he was a member of the Bingham family of Machu Picchu fame.
Four years in a Peruvian prison IS a life sentence. If you survive it you’ll never be the same.
I believe that!
Sure glad the “tourists” weren’t Americans.
It’s seen as the ultimate way of saying:
“I don’t give a f**k” to folks who already don’t want you around, plus, very few people are jailed or even arrested for doing it.
They're from San Francisco?
Lori Berenson. Once a terrorist, always a terrorist. While in the Peruvian prison she met her future husband, married, and had a child. Now living comfortably in the US, unrepentant.
“Lori Berenson. Once a terrorist, always a terrorist.”
I was speaking of nominally normal people. Terrorists don’t count as nominally normal.
Very cool.
So they kill him in prison, who cares.
I sure as hell don’t.
Who does?
I still don’t call it a “slap on the wrist.”
Is that too difficult a concept for you?
Me neither. I have issues tinkling in a nice public restroom.
Wow, they sound like buttholes. Thanks Larry.
