A man in Washington state has been diagnosed with the mysterious virus, the first case confirmed in the United States of an illness that began in China last month and has killed at least six people and sickened hundreds more, according to people familiar with the investigation. The man is in stable condition. He arrived in the United States last week, before federal health officials began screening travelers from the central Chinese city of Wuhan at Los Angeles, San Francisco and New Yorks John F. Kennedy international airports. The CDC is expected to announce details about the U.S. case in a 2 p.m. news conference. Neither his identity, nor his travel route have been publicly released.

Coming in from Canada was how a lot of Chinese got to the Seattle area in the first place, but I imagine once here they travel out of Sea-Tac Airport.
I had to go into Costco (Seattle Area) last Saturday (uggh.) Parking lot was 95% full. Maybe 10% white people in the crowd.
Everyone is munching on the free samples, licking their fingers, opening up the freezer doors, etc. It might not be a bad idea to wear gloves and a mask at Costco. (And go during the weekday like I usually do.) Of course you still are bringing in the possibly contaminated items into your home.
Hmm - I wonder how long this virus can last on a box of crackers?
Sarcasm doesn’t come over well on forums. . . /s
I am sure of this..this time..Many of the states bordering Canada get a large Asian..as well as a lot of people from all over the globe..doing what i said..taking tour buses or renting a car out of Canada. Not 90% but i bet it’s a lot more than folks think.

The disease is spreading throughout S.E.Asia, and this is the first time it has been verified on this continent.
I am getting reports today (unofficial) from hospital workers that it’s in Iowa.
Tourists I can see - I think it is easier to get into Canada from other countries. Or it might have something to do with Duties, etc.
Lots of Chinese moved to Vancouver, B.C. from China. After they had driven up the home prices there they moved south to Seattle with their suitcases full of cash. (And drove up prices here too.)
True that ! Airborne pneumonia transmitted by coughing, sneezing
and the particulate matter remains suspended in the air,
and is communicable from human to human (confirmed !)
Remember SARS? It was a coronavirus. Came originally from, IIRC, civet cats, which in China they eat. China has “wet markets” where every imaginable kind of animal/etc is kept caged and people can purchase have the poor creature slaughtered. As one can imagine, these wet markets are disease ridden pits of filth, and strange diseases pop up.
I wonder what kind of coronavirus this is. SARS was quite deadly but never caught on in the US.
Family out there.
Stay safe.
I got H1N1 when it was a thing.
Never Been so sick in my life. Lost 30 pounds in 8 days (I think because of the high fever). My health changed
Funny thing is I used to always get the flu shot, and did that year.
Farm kid.
Almost 30 years ago, we had something hit our farm. Killed 40% of the hogs in days, most of the baby pigs were still born, and the ones that survived did not gain well.
We had people from all over the world trying to figure it out. Determined it came from a wounded goose that was in the sow yard.
Vet at the University of Nebraska said “You know, that is how these things jump species to people. Bird, to pig,to close handles of pigs”.
I was reading the Stand AT THE SAME TIME. Didn’t sleep for days.
Eventually a vaccine was developed. But not before Dad went bankrupt.
Why should antibiotics work on a respiratory VIRUS? This is crap.reporting antibiotics have never ever “worked” on viruses they might work on an associated bacterial infection while the person’s immune system was compromised but viruses do not respond to antibacterial medications. There are antiviral medications but most are ineffective against general or novel viruses they are targeted ar a specific viral receptor and as such unique to what they target.

>>>Who else did he expose? Wonder how long the incubation period is<<<
Shall I assume that every Passenger on his Petri Dish Flight to Washington is being contacted by the CDC?
