This is the by far the best proposal ever put forward. A TUNNEL connecting the West Bank and Gaza!? All that territory!? Plus, a portion of East Jerusalem as a capital!?
However, what is that “industrial and agricultural” area in the south of Israel? Is it intended to be an economic base for the future state?
Israel is being very generous and agreeable here. The Palis would have a fairly large, coherent piece of territory and Israel looks to be keeping their biggest settlements while giving up other territories to compensate. This is impressively balanced and fair. If the Palis reject this, they will prove to me irrevocably that they do not desire true peace. They will never get better than this and if they choose to continue with their hatred, they will never have any kind of future except pain and hardship. I have little sympathy for them already, and I would have none if they choose to continue war against Israel.
Good post...and it’s do-able if the Palestinian Leadership, which leaves a lot to be desired these days, can move even an inch away from their hatred of Israel and their peoples ‘addiction’ to death and violence....not to mention to their pain and suffering..which they believe just goes with their high calling for Jihad etc.
It’s going to be a true heavy lift to get the people on board....but not impossible.
Say that the Palestinian counter offer was something like Jerusalem whole and undivided as the capital of Palestine, the Palestinians get the whole of the West Bank including existing Israeli municipalities but Israel will get territory equivalent in size the Gaza Peninsula, the Palestine state vows eternal peace with Israel though their armed forces may control part of Israel for defensive purposes. How generous and agreeable would Israel view that?
