WASHINGTON – Reports of sexual assault by cadets and midshipmen at the nation's military academies spiked 32% during the last school year, reflecting increases in those crimes and a greater willingness to report them, according to a Pentagon report obtained by USA TODAY.
There were 122 reports of sexual assault during the 2018-19 school year, compared to 92 in 2017-18.
"We are encouraged that more cadets and midshipmen made reports of sexual assault this year," said Nate Galbreath, acting director of the Pentagon's Sexual Assault Prevention and Response program. "Our program empowers those who experience sexual assault to connect with restorative care."

And who could guess that the outcome would be more reports. Also consider that changes in definitions may have impacts.
And lastly putting hormone active young adults together in stressful situations is asking for trouble. Such as how many of the reports were from females that are now part of one time male only units (e.g., submarines)?

Y’know when the NFL changes its measurement criteria for QB-ratings suddenly everybody is a statistician. But when a public institution changes the way it collects data on sexual assault or encourages reporting then suddenly we’re not supposed to question the validity of a ‘spike’?

Yep, that was my thoughts exactly. Everything is considered a sexual assault now, and girls use it as a way to secure special considerations.
Letting women in the military academies was a stupid idea. The upside is small. The downside is huge. Political correctness in the military is harmful just as it is to the rest of society.
