This test is $39.00 at direct labs. You can find coupon codes online.

Be aware that residents in certain states can’t do this. Those states deem this practicing medicine and don’t allow it.

One more thing..you really need to know your baselines so that you know when they change.

For example, I have a low number on something that can be indicative of major problems when elevated.

My elevation number might seem normal to a Dr because he doesn’t know my baseline is much lower.

I know. But they have pretty good immune systems compared to Westerners.

Reported deaths as of 23:20 yesterday 910.
Reported deaths as of 13:33 today 910.

Show's over folks!

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.

Do not be afraid to ask for the test if you have to go to ER. Tell them you dont care if insurance pays. Also, helps to have the article with you.

I always sound like I work for Directlabs but I highly recommend them. I had an issue with the way the local lab took a urine sample. It messed up the results of the test. Direct Labs issued a free order for a new one with no problems. They also have staff that can answer medical questions..but they are careful not to give medical advice.

I found something that I have that no Dr had ever told me I had just from getting the Women’s work up when they had it on sale.

Take charge of your health!

Exactly. There are a finite number and they tend to be in use. So it would be relatively easy to overwhelm a healthcare system in an epidemic if many of those affected need ventilators. However, with warning, a hospital can take measures to increase available ventilators by postponing elective surgeries, repurposing ventilators from the OR to patient floors, expediting the repair of broken ventilators, etc. If the people who have the disease don’t need ventilators for very long, this may be enough to keep hospitals from being overwhelmed to the point where they don’t have enough ventilators (or other supplies) for the patients who need them.

ONE guy here. Look at the damage:

https://apnews.com/46a846130549454936d62f2cddec6c48

A middle-aged businessman from England who vacationed in the Alps has illustrated how the ease of international travel is complicating global efforts to track and contain the new coronavirus that emerged in China.

From the Singapore hotel where he is believed to have picked up the virus during a conference, to a ski resort in the French Alps and a pub in his hometown of Hove on the southern coast of England, as well as the flights he took on his way back to Britain, the man came in contact with dozens of other people, potentially infecting them before he was diagnosed and hospitalized. Health officials are now hunting for them.

“can’t believe this hasn’t hit the slums of india yet.”

It is not spreading in warm climates. No cases in Africa either. Hot Australia has it due to Chinese nationals working there. All case are above the equator in colder climates.

The WHO said it will go away for the most part when spring arrives but think it will come back in the fall.

posted by another Freeper a few days back, handle escapes me: Shanghai government confirm coronavirus is aerosolized (different than droplets or airborne) Shanghai officials reveal novel coronavirus transmission modes Confirmed transmission routes of the novel coronavirus include direct transmission, contact transmission and ***aerosol transmission*** a Shanghai official said on Saturday. https://chinadaily.com.cn/a/202002/08/WS5e3e7d97a310128217275fc3.html This confirms what a CDC official told the daughter of an American couple on the quarantined Japanese cruise ship. This also confirms other news reports: Catching it within 15 seconds near an infected person The incredibly fast spread on cruise ships One infected person in a building, they lock the whole building down Man catching it from infected person one apartment below Large scale disinfection trucks, now N. Korea doing the same The high level hazmat suit the people bringing the American expatriates home The article about the virus being “deep lung” which is why it gets missed in tests of the upper respiratory tracts The difference between airborne and aerosolized: Airborne Droplet: Droplets (greater than 5 um) Remain only shortly in air (less than 17 min) [116]. Dispersed over short distances (less than 1 m). Short range transmission. Direct inoculation of naïve person through coughing/sneezing/breathing of infected person. Deposition mainly on mucous membranes and upper respiratory tract. Aerosol: Aerosols, droplet nuclei (less than 5 um), Remain in air for an almost infinite amount of time. Dispersed over long distances (greater than 1 m).

It is not spreading in warm climates.

How do we know this? What warm climates are we doing testing in, other than on the handful of people caught in the not-exactly-stringent airport screening? AFAIK the only people being tested are symptomatic people who have a direct connection to Wuhan or known cases. There are no cases in Africa, but doesn't that just mean that there was never any testing done on people who left China, for Africa. Given that the screening was a joke, how would we know whether infected people got into Africa, and it has been spreading all over the place (given the long asymptomatic period, and the fact that this only started in earnest a couple of weeks ago, this is not unrealistic).

Truth of the matter is that we have no idea. It may be that there are no cases in Africa. Or there could be a hundreds of thousands. And, realistically, we have no way of knowing one way or the other.
