I’ve often heard LBJ described as being a master politician but it doesn’t mean that he was any kind of military leader, and I am quite certain that none of the current (D) candidates for POTUS are any kind of military leaders either.
I now realize that JFK was so moved by the NYT burning monk photo that he was backing off on Vietnam.
He had fired Dulles as head of the CIA for many reasons including the Bay of Pigs fiasco,and was questioning many of their missions.
JFK was assassinated 20 days after Diem’s assassination in November 1963. They brought Dulles back to be on the Warren Commission coverup.
Johnson then faked the Gulf of Tonkin incident to beat Goldwater in the 64 election which Johnson escalated into the Vietnam War.
I blame Johnson and Dulles, another Deep State coup.
Military leader....hell these misfits could not lead a well trained dog outside to take a crap.
The only two prezes I met and shook hands with were Johnson and Carter.
