AFAIK this will leave Sts. Peter and Paul in Easton, MD as the only RCC HS on Delmarva (between the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal and the VA Capes).

The Catholic school woes continue...

Recently, we helped start a Catholic high school with a classical-education approach in suburban CT--Latin, History, English Lit, Math. Uniforms, daily Mass, strictly orthodox teachers.

Immediately, the diocese offered us space and affiliation with one of their declining-enrollment high schools, but still free to operate on our own. Our enrollment has been up 50 percent per year, with lots of new families showing up at every open house.

For trend watchers, in many parts of the country, classical Catholic education is hot, hot, hot.

Sad to hear. The Catholic High Schools above the canal seem to be doing quite well. Freshman class at Sallies is above 250. Wish they had one in Sussex.

Like all things, organizations need to either re-find, or re-dedicate themselves to their mission - and that mission needs align with the truth.

We have several good Catholic high schools in our area. All of them though, have become secularized to some extent, soft in their theology, in some cases quite leftist or progressive.

So a group of parents got together and rented a disused grammar school for $1, and established a new school under the banner of the GK Chesterton Academy. That was about 5 years ago, and its been quite a success. The size of the student body has grown quickly.
