Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren dropped out of the 2020 presidential race Thursday, ending a once front-running bid that never achieved its sky-high potential once voting actually began.
Answering the "what happened" question is never a simple thing. Voters make up their minds for lots of different reasons -- some of which they are willing to articulate and some they simply won't. But generally speaking, there seem to be three reasons why Warren didn't get to where she wanted to go.
1) She peaked too soon: If the Iowa caucuses were October 3, Warren could have won going away. National polling around that time captures Warren's summer and early fall surge.
2) She tried to be more than just a liberal: Voters in the two lanes of the Democratic Party have now coalesced around Biden in the center and Sanders on the left.
3) Sexism: This is an indisputable fact: We have had 44 presidents and not one of them has been a woman. Coincidence? Probably not. How much did the fact that Warren is a woman and ran on an unapologetically feminist platform for president affect the outcome? It's almost impossible to know, but it's equally impossible to think it had no role in how voters perceived her.
Asked about the role her gender played in the race on Thursday, Warren responded this way:
"That is the trap question for every woman. If you say yeah, there was sexism in this race, everyone says, 'Whiner.' And if you say no, there was no sexism, about a bazillion women think, 'What planet do you live on?'"
She added that she would "have a lot more to say on that subject later on."

She was never a serious candidate. A complete media creation who never had a significant base of support.
Nobody likes her
She should have claimed she was Chinese too, then we could call her Faux-Mein.
She was a baldfaced liar.
She reminded me of an adult chaperone on a high school bus that just wouldn’t shut up or sit down.
Misogyny is the only possible explanation.
Just ask her, or Hillary. They’ll tell ya.
And there ought to be a law against it lol
Her presidential campaign ended the moment she made her DNA test results public.
Impossible to confirm, impossible to deny. How convenient.
It’s obvious the Democrat party is racist/sexist, they could only go with old white men.
She is the annoying, loud mouth, judgemental co-worker who thinks she is beloved and respected but in reality is held in contempt, loathed and people try and not have contact with her unless absolutely necessary.
She’s a skank Jim.
How did she do as well as she did?
As my redneck biker friend said:

Because dems are misogynistic, duh!
Because, they are all losers and she’s just a foreshadowing of what Nov holds for dems.
My 90 year old mom said she was beginning to think Warren would take off like a buzzard one of these days the way she flapped her arms around in the air.
“Why wasn’t I 50 points ahead?”
A nothingburger. No there there.
She repulses in all ways possible.
What we need to realize, is that her campaign fizzled out AMONG DEMOCRATS. The Democrats, the liberal party, the party of feminism and diversity, rejected her candidacy.
So then, Democrats voters must be deplorable sexist types, per Hillary criteria.
