BOSTON A Tennesssee man on a nonstop, round-trip flight from Boston to Nashville is among three Biogen employees who tested positive for coronavirus, Gov. Charlie Baker said Thursday night.
The Tennessee Department of Health earlier announced the case in an official release, saying the man on the flight had tested presumptive positive for COVID-19 in Tennessee. ...

This appears to be the same 1st case in Tennessee announced this morning.
oops.Bring Out Your Dead
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
Ruh Roe!
Virus breaking out in American heartland
Its going to be a long Spring and Summer
Yeah.
Tennessee only has the one case that we know of. But Tennessee admitted this morning that they have only tested about 10 people so far.
Still no naming of the airline.
Biogen is big in Neuroscience research, disturbing that virus is spreading in that company
Not that I’ve seen.
Jet Blue and Delta appear to have non-stop flights.
Several Other airlines have connecting flights.
Could be missing some though.
It’s all over the country already.
There’s really no telling how many infected people there are, or where they are, or what they’re doing. Are they going to keep themselves quarantined and away from all others? Nope.
The only thing I really wonder at this point is will it kill all life on the planet?
Well probably not ocean life, but who really know.
Would be interesting if this is the beginning of The End.
It’s not going to kill all life on the planet.
Just 3-4% of us.
And possibly all cats.
But not dogs.
Do the employees still jhave time to train their replacements....sorry
Well, I tell you what, I am happy about the dog part.
Here’s the thing that worries me. Perhaps the virus mortality rate is 3-4%. That is actually pretty frickin’ high. I understand it goes up with advanced age as well.
That is high enough to cause mass panic and all sort of other human related problems that could result in all sorts of bad.
Dangerous times coming, DannyTN, we should all enjoy every good minute we have, I’m thinking.
Amen to that Chris.
Hey, this is interesting....*gasp*....beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep....................
It’s not the end of the world.
But to your question, a dog tested positive in Hong Kong, and a cat (kitten, but youth immunity didn’t seem to help here) belonging to a patient apparently died of it while they were in quarantine together.
True. Eat drink and be merry.
The 3%-4% is an average and already takes into account the higher rate for elderly and the lower rate for young people.
And there is good reason to believe we will have a lower rate. But it’s going to be worse than the flu if we can’t keep it from spreading.
And you know the cat and dog comment was based on 1 infected dog that didn’t show symptoms and 1 kitten that died. Completely anecdotal.
How many people are sick and are not going to the doctor yet?
I know. With the flu and colds around, I’ve been hearing a lot of coughing at work. And I caught a cold last week myself.
But I didn’t have reason to think it was in TN yet, and I think that’s all it was, a cold.
Probably < 1% See South Korea where they do a lot of testing and catch more cases. It does go way up with age. See Italy. Almost all their victims are elderly.
3 biotech employees from a major biotech firm getting sick with the same disease. I am calling a red flag on this one, a red flag with some stars on it.
I’m worried about my mom, she just turned 74.
