Former Republican U.S. Rep. Sean Duffy's daughter, Evita Duffy, said she was harassed for expressing conservative views at the University of Chicago, where she is in her second year of school.

The Hayward, Wisconsin, native was featured in a campaign by the university's Institute of Politics (IOP) showcasing students and why they vote.

A photo of Duffy holding a whiteboard with her response — “I vote because the coronavirus won’t destroy America, but socialism will” — has received hundreds of comments, many of them negative, since it was posted March 2.

Universities ALL need to lose their not-for-profit designations, and need to be taxed to the same degree as anyone else. They are political entities, NOT unbiased bastions of free-thought. There is little intelligence coming from the self-defined intelligentsia.

To the contrary. U of C has been a leader in rejecting “trigger” bs and “safe spaces” and the head of the college has stated unequivocally that all views must be heard respectfully and peacefully, with reasoned debate to follow.
This development is a new turn and one I will watch carefully as I approach reunion weekend, when I usually give a modest donation. I certainly do not want to subsidize scholarships for brown shirt antifa types.

My sister graduated in 85. One of her Econ professors was Milton Friedman. She had no problems

Her excuse in defending her position is why I’ve come up with this suggestion

In political campaigns while the use of Social Electronic Formats are useful in presenting political positions. Relying solely on using those venues is a mistake because of their SEF content limitations and media bias .

Consideration of the use of reprinted material including handouts and flyers such as of articles in FR and the planning of area saturation distribution known as “blitzing” in the targeted area is essential of one wants to win.

Dirty stink’n Fascists. We have a serious problem in the educational institutions in this country. It’s past time to shutter the DOE and give tax credits to parents to chose their own alternative educational opportunities. Just do it!!

The University of Chicago has for generations been ground zero for the American Communist party and movement.

The Chicago principles that defend freedom of speech on college campuses have been adopted by many other colleges and continues to expand. You should read them. They give hope to those of us who wish to see the cancel culture of college campuses cancelled.

UofC developed and promoted this on their own. If my son didn't love Hillsdale, I'd be pushing him to apply to UC. There are a lot of good people at his school and this girl absolutely chose well given the alternatives.

Glad to hear it. I though Chicago was a liberal hive mind. Glad I am wrong.
