I owned a Mini-14.
Couldn’t hit anything with it.
To be fair, they *finally* got a lot of the accuracy problems at least partially remedied in the 2000s. They redesigned the Ranch Rifle in 03, ported that to all the other models in 05 with additional improvements as the 580 series and somewhere between 07-08 put a heavier tapered profile barrel on it. It's still not as accurate as your average AR-pattern, but it's a lot better than the old garbage Bill Ruger was willing to sell the rest of us out on the AWB over, just to protect 'his baby'. The post-Bill management has been busily fixing the problems with Bill Ruger designs and Bill Ruger's management.

Reliable but inaccurate. You gotta accurize that thing to death, practically change everything but the serial number.
Yeah I have a full auto Thompson short barrel and all.
It basically makes a plume of death in a general direction, but good luck hitting anything you really intend to hit.
But I bet it was fun missing everything!
I've always been told that Mini-14s were inaccurate, and I know that I've always been able to hit a 10 inch paper plate at 100 yards all day long with mine.
I know that isn't "great shooting" but it gets done what I'm trying to do.
I'm OK with the mini on accuracy, but I usually stay away from them because of how finicky they are with magazines.
An early one.
Shoots fine.
Its the Indian, not the arrow.
I smoked a bunch of coyotes with mine!
