D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser declared a state of emergency and a public health emergency on Wednesday as the number of people in the district who tested positive for COVID-19 rose to 10.
“We’re not in a vacuum," Bowser said in a news conference. "Our country is experiencing this, and our world is experiencing this."
The declaration allows the district to request federal funds to address the public health crisis further and gives the mayor the ability to order quarantines 'without the approval of a court'.
Nearly 125,000 people have tested positive for the virus around the world, killing at least 4,592 people. In the United States, more than 1,100 people have been diagnosed with the coronavirus, and 32 patients have died. The World Health Organization declared coronavirus a global pandemic on Wednesday.

Even now people have had plenty warning to be prepared for this to spread. As with the flu if you’re in that danger zone you need to have things ready.

Well I did that a couple weeks ago and am set here now. Retired I can hang out here and on my wonderful deck once the weather gets nice again.
I even spoke with Pharmacist on what I should have here if I get this virus, he was very helpful and attentive. Srongly advised a cough medicine...’Delsym’...next best thing to a narcotic cough medication without the narcotics. Body ache medication and keeping fever in check..and drink lots of fluids and juices....said check your temperature twice a day if you feel like you’re coming down with anything.
So I’m set... here.

Wow, 10 people, that’s frightening. What if it gets to 20, will they close down the entire city, arrest anyone who steps outside? This keeps getting more and more ridiculous by the hour.
DC has always been a “state of emergency” since the corrupt crackhead Marion Barry became mayor in the late 70’s. That’s is close as they will ever get to being a “state”.
