Definitely fast food (quick service restaurants) nearly doubled prices during that period of time. My standard breakfast went from $3.37 to $5.79 @ BK. Similar at other chains. Partly due to minimum wage going up and other factors.

Yep, I have my own personal “Carl’s, Jr./Hardee’s Inflation Index”...my benchmark “Santa Fe Chicken Sandwich” large combo is up from $7.89 to $12.25 over 10 years.

Here is some evidence for the rate of increase in the price of a hamburger over those years. It seems to have more to due with the company. The standard McDonalds hamburger(which I remember at ten cents), rose from $0.71 to $1.00 from 2008 to 2013, well above the average inflation rate but not close to "doubling."
