The laws need to be clearer about giving the government x number of days to complete a background check otherwise it is approved by default. I’d say three days.

In California there are no legal private sales. All firearm transfers must go through an FFL and be approved by both state and fed authorities.

Further, one must pass a written test on firearm safety.

Lastly, one must wait (10) business days (that's two weeks for you and me) before taking possession.
