“...which is likely leading to a massive under-reporting of COVID-19 fatalities (in NY).”

Now, listen. Those BLUE States with their hands in the COVID-19 Cookie Jar, funded by YOU and ME, NEED a high body count to keep that cookie jar FULL of cash!

It really IS that simple. Always, ALWAYS follow the money.

"A spokeswoman for the medical examiner’s office told Gothamist that an additional 200 people are dying at home each day, in addition to the 20 to 25 people that died at home each day before the pandemic."

Yes, I've seen similar reports from quite a few publications. But some entertainment and convenience business folks say that medical examiners, doctors, nurses and other medical workers are all fake, and that the world is all one big conspiracy--everything.

I wish they would publish the total daily death rate and also include comparisons with prior months and years (death rates are higher in the winter than the summer)

That would be most helpful. At the same time, the thing is really, really complicated. As I understand it, in at least many places people are avoiding the hospitals which may mean both that people who would normally die in hospitals from something that is not CV would die at home, and perhaps some people who would not die if they went to the hospital are now dying at home.

Who does the counting, and even more importantly, how the counting is done, matters. When things are done consistently and explained, even if the manner chosen is weird, one has usable data. When the method of counting shifts, one has data that becomes largely useless. At least daily deaths should be fairly static in method of counting.

re: “before the pandemic: 20-25 die at home per day now: 220-225 die at home per day”

So, we are “front loading” the deaths of the ‘weak and infirm’ for the year ...

Dead bodies are piling up before they can make burial arrangements. Nobody is going to do autopsies.

You are really delusional about what’s going on here.

Shameful this arrogant scumbag will not allow a drug that was readily available to the public before this for lupus treatment because he’s afraid of hoarding and the clinical trial is not yet complete if started at all. CUOMO HAS BLLOD ON HIS HANDS!

I would really prefer that our medial professionals spend their time trying to save lives, than answer your stupid question.

Many would like the malaria cocktail...and thanks to Cuomo...they’re not getting it unless they go to a hospital.

The husband of a Chinese friend died 16 January of a mystery respiratory problem. He had returned from China on 28 December. I went to his funeral.

At that time I don't think there were any tests for corona available; at any rate (a) nothing has been revealed by his wife or anyone else indicating that he had corona, and (b) no one in our social group — including the fifty or so people who were at the funeral and shook hands with his surviving family members standing next to his open casket — has gotten sick with anything.

The NY county I live in (Onondaga) has as of right now posted 335 positive test results out of a total (county) population of about 470,000.

You have no idea at all how physicians determine cause of death.

None.

Educate us.

“Before the pandemic: 20-25 die at home per day.

Now: 220-225 die at home per day

(NYC)”

Don’t forget that last week NYC stopped paramedics from brings cardiac arrest patients to the hospital unless the patient is revived.

Unless we know how many of these patients were previously taken to the ER, we can’t draw any conclusions about how much of the increase is from COVID patients dying at home.

For real? Was she late stage terminal? If that is the case around my neck of the woods, an autopsy is not required; otherwise, there has to be one. It is to rule out foul play, I suppose. One can see how this could be abused ... grandma has a lot of money, after all ....

[We compared the number of deaths over the first three months of this year with the average figure of the last three years, in order to verify the increase in mortality across Bergamo’s territory - explains Aldo Cristadoro, founder of InTwig and professor in Digital methods for social research at Bergamo University -. Our evaluation, carried out with great accuracy by means of the official data provided by each local administration, tells us that during the month of March more than 5.400 people have died, and approximately 4.500 of these are ascribable to coronavirus. One year ago, in March, the total deaths were almost 900.]

That’s true. They didn’t have the virus, but they may have died from inadequate care because of the virus.
