John Stossel on Coronavirus Overreach

Governments pass ever-more restrictive rules in the name of saving us. How many of these rules are helpful?

In Encinitas, California, police gave $1000 tickets to people inside cars - watching the sunset. Surfers were arrested, despite being far from anyone.

Such excessive restrictions may even do harm, by preventing people from getting exercise.

Michigan's governor condescended to allow big stores to stay open, but told them they must not sell "carpet, flooring, furniture, garden centers, plant nurseries, or paint.”

The stores had to rope off those aisles.

These rules are arbitrary, and excessive.

Government:

We'll release convicted inmates to limit the spread of the deadly Chinese Coronavirus... AND to make room to incarcerate otherwise law-abiding citizens who refuse to bend the knee to our dictates.

Some people seem to think that “Big Government” is there to rescue them and make all the problems go away.

The reality is, as Orwell said, Big Government is a boot, smashing a face, forever.

The people are seeing what it looks like when Big Government gets full control. The November election is coming up and the people will have a chance to say whether or not they support these arbitrary power plays.

I worry that a lot of people still want to be “rescued” and “helped”.

Some people also thing LEO’s will honor/respect and follow the Constitution, but had better realize that a large majority follow their masters/politicians who cut their paycheck. Just following orders...........Even the military have provisions for refusing to follow unlawful/unConstitutional orders.

We wouldn’t want anyone painting their house, inside or out, when they are self-isolating. It would be bad somehow.

“These rules are arbitrary, and excessive.”

Government at ALL levels is arbitrary and excessive! I’m sick of it!

It’s a rehearsal for the Green New Deal.

It will be interesting to see what ultimately happens to these folks who got ‘tickets’ when they go to court. Most ‘infractions’ appear to be clear violations of the US Constitution.

Hope everyone will consider my tagline below which was pointed out to me many years ago. I grow more dedicated to this belief EVERY DAY! (Wish I could remember who said it.)

The Founders had deep mistrust of government foremost in their minds as they framed a new constitution for our young American Republic.

How in the world did we get to this present sorry state?

“How in the world did we get to this present sorry state?”

Human Nature and Greed.

Too many ‘good men’ standing around and doing nothing about it. It didn’t happen overnight and I don’t think we’re ever going back again. The best we can do is slow the march of Socialism, but the Socialist Democrat Party has made HUGE strides in my lifetime and yours. :(
