Joy Reid Guest: Trump a 'Cult Leader' Like Jim Jones of Jonestown Massacre
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 04/25/2020 12:13:08 PM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Donald Trump: akin to a homicidal cult leader? Yup, if you believe Joy Reid's guest this morning, MSNBC analyst Dr. Irwin Redlener. Calling President Trump the leader of a "cult," Redlener said that President Trump's "cultish following reminds me of Jim Jones and the Koolaid and all that horrible stuff."

Jones was, of course, a mass murderer, responsible for the deaths of more than 900 of his followers, whom he ordered to commit mass suicide in the Jonestown Massacre. It is outrageous for Redlender to compare President Trump with Jones. Is Redlener suggesting that Trump wants his followers to die? When it comes to finding a "silver lining" in the deaths of tens of thousands of Americans from the virus, perhaps Redlener is confusing Trump with Nicolle Wallace.

Get the rest of the story and view the video here.

You know, until I joined Free Republic, I was under the impression that all the crude bullies and overbearing know-it-alls were on the Left.

Thanks to FR — and sorry simians like you — now I know better.

Thanks for the education, wiseacre.

It’s funny when they toss out names of people that are evil and make a comparison against Trump. They have not a single thing in common but they accuse Trump of being the same. It’s almost a contest to see who get come up with a worse name than the person before.

My guess is that Dr Redlener knows very little about Jim Jones or the People’s Temple. Jones was a communist/socialist type. He loved Marxism. Trump is the complete opposite.

Trump does have strong supporters but none would commit suicide for him. I have heard people pledge their life to Obama, for reasons I can’t comprehend. To date, none have willing followed through.

Jim Jones was a Democrat and the overwhelming majority of the many followers he killed were black.

You mean the earth that created man is not a god? Then why the Global Warming cult that worships the creation rather than the creator. Evolution is as supernatural as it gets to believe it just randomly happened.

Atheism replaces God with man who has thousands of gods.

Jim Jones’ People’s Temple was a CIA Mind-control experiment.

Funny because the San Francisco politicians used to like Jim Jones
“Having moved his flock to northern California in the 1960s, Jones began leveraging their labor toward political ends, volunteering them for protests or electioneering on behalf of friendly aspirants to public office. Gaining the respect of San Francisco’s political class, Jones became a player in his own right. Many gave him credit for Moscone’s tight victory in the 1975 mayoral runoff, and he was appointed head of the San Francisco Housing Authority. Praised as a hero of social justice and a crusader for racial equality, Jones became an important figure in Democratic politics.

Among his advocates was Harvey Milk, also a newcomer to San Francisco. Milk, formerly a Goldwater Republican, became politically radical in California and repeatedly sought election to office as an outsider to the political machine. Milk attended services at Peoples Temple dozens of times, and wrote effusive letters to Jones. “Such greatness I have found in Jim Jones’s Peoples Temple,” Milk proclaimed.

Milk wasn’t Jones’s only fan. Many powerful people—Governor Jerry Brown, columnist Herb Caen, and Vice President Walter Mondale, to name a few—sought Jones’s blessings and expressed admiration for his dedication to racial equality and a better world.”

And MSNBC analyst Dr. Irwin Redlener admires Hitler and supports the final solution.

That was easy.
