Does the Constitution allow for a delayed presidential election?

we had a presidential election during an all out Civil War (1864).

There wasn't much fighting in the North; and there was little interest in the South.

A couple of liberal individuals on another forum (a fishing site) have been predicting cancellation of the November election and a power grab by Trump. No doubt D.U. features similar posts- I don’t know as I have not been there in a long time.

Remember- we said the same thing about Slick Willie at the close of the Clinton administration. They said the same near the end of the GW Bush era. Some of us were concerned that Obama would not leave.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. The primary worry this cycle should be the massive vote fraud without which the RATs would not even come close.

Absent a clear winner of the presidential election on January 20, the Speaker of the House would serve as Acting President under the current succession law.

One problem with that. Congressional terms end Jan 3. If there's no election for President, then there shall be no elected members of Congress.

One fact that must be reminded in this discussion is that President Trump never suggested this.

This idea of President Trump delaying the election was floated by the Biden campaign in an attack on Trump.
