That Kenneth Mars was nuts. Nobody else could’ve played that role.
Mel Brooks’ genius was finding and keeping guys like Mars. He was just as perfect as Mongo and as the Frankenstein monster. IMHO it was sacrilege to redo Producers without Zero Mostel, Gene Wilder and Kenneth Mars, and of course Uula.
