The Injustice Dept did the same thing to several Enron and Arthur Anderson executives, but nobody cared.
I always thought perjury traps were just standard procedure for the FBI. If they think you are guilty or deserve punishment but know they can’t really prove it in a court they set you up for process crimes, namely lying to them about something. Then they pressure you to plead. What % of federal crimes ever go to trial? 2% or something?

What is Barr going to do about it?
Well Mr. Barr, you are the one who declined to prosecute James Comey for lying to Congress and for leaking classified material. I like Barr, but I am STILL furious he chickend out on indicting both Comey and McCabe. Just still livid about that.
Has occurred to me they first used this tactic on Petraeus. He was “guilty” but of course they knew he had a girlfriend before he became CIA Director. When he wouldn’t play ball on Benghazi, they used the law to get him out of the way.
Flynn presented the need to take more direct action. Trump was in office, Flynn wasn’t committing any crime, and they were all about to be exposed. So they had to create the “crime” in a hurry.
Resulting in a strong admonition to never do that again.
Hundreds of people have lied to the FBI and not gone to jail.
Want to see how the FBI acts, watch “Richard Jewell” movie. Louis Freeh was FBI director, followed by Mueller, Comey, and Wray. All cut from the same cloth.

Setting perjury traps is SOP for the FBIAS.
One thing has bothered me, though. To commit perjury you have to LIE. How do you trap someone into lying? And isn’t pleading guilty to something you did not do LYING? So a guilty plea could be perjury!
Conversely, pleading not guilty to something you DID do is lying, and thus perjury, right?
