WASHINGTON - Leading U.S. infectious disease expert Anthony Fauci on Tuesday warned Congress that while the federal government is working to help manufacture a vaccine against the new coronavirus, its development “might take some time” to come to market.

As a result, Fauci told a Senate health committee in prepared testimony, the nation’s efforts to battle the deadline virus and the COVID-19 disease it triggers should be “focused on the proven public health practices of containment and mitigation.”

“focused on the proven public health practices of containment and mitigation.”

Proven practices are gaining herd immunity through contact with the disease — which is not dangerous except for the elderly and those with underlying conditions.

Did anyone ask Fauci if he was basing that on his search for a vaccine for AIDs?

We need a rapid and valid testing method. To be sold at every pharmacy. Or mail order like they do the DNA kits.

I’m surprised he did not mention we still do not have an AIDS vaccine 40+ years later yet life goes on. /sarc

Left: "Let's lockdown the country until Nov 3rd."

Also Left on Nov 4th: "OMG! We just found a vaccine! President-elect Biden will hold a press conference announcing the end to all lockdowns. How convenient!"

MUHAHA! MUHAHAHAHA! (Twirls handlebar mustache while holding cloth bag of cash with the $ imprinted on it)

Lock the midget down and withhold his and the pay of his researchers until they come up with a vaccine. He’s willing to make us pay for his views but is not willing to assume the same sacrifices for himself. He’s a partisan bureaucrat and not worth a second more of consideration.

Leading U.S. infectious disease expert Anthony Fauci

Partner, we all know that Fauce does not even know his behind from third base. I still can not believe he is getting paid $540,000.00 a year.

"The America Hating Piece of Work Obama" saw to it that Fauci gets paid well. The is the biggest crock I have ever heard.

"The America Hating Piece of Work Obama" also thought the same think about Birx.

President Trump has done a great job of getting a handle of this virus even though there are a lot of Americans that think President Trump has not done a good job.

Might take some time to develop a vaccine? How much time, Dr. Fraudci? Maybe like, 30 years, like your AIDS vaccine? We’ll just stay in lockdown and wear masks until you say it’s OK to be free people again, eh?

I am not sure who is more stupid: The media for not understanding this; or people who are “worried” about this.

Vaccines science is not exact. These things take time and they might not be hugely preventative (like the influenza vaccine, for example.)

We don’t have a reliable vaccine for the regular flu; it mutates rapidly. Every year’s flu shot is a best guess at what that year’s flu will be. Sometimes they guess wrong. I’ve had flu shots that didn’t work that season. The lockdown should be ended for the healthy people and provisions taken for the vulnerable. A new vaccine that enters normal safety testing (i.e., double blind testing) could take more than a year even with expedited protocols.
