Round the Clock Diner made waves this week after the owner reopened the restaurants locations in Manchester and Springettsbury 'for dine-in' services, in contravention to the governors stay-at-home order.....the yellow phase of reopening does not allow restaurants to operate dine-in services. Despite that, Sacarellos is charging ahead.
I think I just follow whats right, Sacarellos, who has been in the business for 52 years, said they are keeping the restaurant very clean and taking safety protocols, like seating patrons at every other table. Urging Wolf to let the people open up ,Forget the politics.
I didnt back down. Im still operating and will continue, Were not opening just because we need the money. We didnt change the prices for 11 and half years. So were not looking for money. Were looking for money to pay the bills and support our families and thats it, he said.....Everyone says thank you, he said, even offering, in some cases,$50 dollars, $100 dollars.
I said I dont need money. Just pay for your meals. Thats all I need. Thats all I want you to do so I can pay my people, he said.
Sacarellos pays his employees $14 an hour, noting that it helps them support their families and encourages them to come in and work.
Put the politics aside and let the people work, because the country is turning into more like a communist system here, he warned, and I know better than a communist system. I lived in those days.
Sacarellos immigrated from Greece and briefly touched on the brutality he witnessed growing up, at the hands of communism.
I have seen in my life a lot. The American people dont even know, he said, explaining that Russia took over and adding that it was coming down.

I wasn’t aware of that...thanks.
That’s why I moved from canada because I was tired of the commie-socialist crap there. I totally understand his viewpoint.
US will always be the home of the free over every other country.....regardless of the weight of government...when they push too hard the citizens will push back and die doing so if they have to.
Not so sure the next generations could do that, nor even those coming up now. They’re just too focused on themselves to care.
I wish more people had the opportunity to listen to the people that have lived though these regimes.
I can make it there in about an hour fifteen. I was holding off going there. Figured they will be super busy.
Weve been making the rounds of local family places by us for carry out. One place I though was closed is now open. They are next on Tuesday
Marylands illustrious coward RINO punted reopening decisions to county executives. My son who lives in a closed county is coming to pick some stuff up next week. The scofflaw.
We joined a few hundred others for some mask-less, non socially distant protesting yesterday. I even shook hands with three people
He wanted to pave the way but nobody followed him.... More evidence that society is made up of a handful of righteous people, a handful of evil people, and the overwhelming majority of people are cowards
Good on you. Don’t back down.
I have eaten there a bunch of times. Good food, great service and very reasonable. I wish them well
