Sometimes, a good rant is all a writer can offer. Bear with me.
Last Friday morning, some 3,500 New Yorkers lined up at a Catholic church in Queens to receive free food hours before it even opened, according to the New York Police Department. Catholic Charities has reported a 200 percent increase in demand over the past month and a half.
By prolonging the coronavirus shutdown long after its core mission was accomplished, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio have plunged tens of thousands of New Yorkers into poverty.
It needs to end. Now.
In mid-March, we were told we have to endure a lockdown to ensure that hospitals didn’t get overrun. We did. The hospitals were not overwhelmed. We turned the Javits Center into a hospital. We didn’t need it. We brought in a giant Navy ship to treat New Yorkers. We didn’t need it.
We were told we were moments away from running out of ventilators. We weren’t, and now the United States has built so many, we are giving them away to other countries.
Meanwhile, the Big Apple is dying. Its streets are empty. The bars and jazz clubs, restaurants and coffeehouses sit barren. Beloved haunts, storied rooms, perfect-slice joints are shuttered, many for good. The sweat equity of countless small-business owners is evaporating.

I understand if NYC remains locked down. It is the center of the epidemic after all. However most every other part of the country does not need the same harsh measures.
How long will you like us to be locked down for? I know well over a few hundred people and I don’t know anyone who has it nor do I know anyone that knows anyone who has it.
and if it is true that dozens of us have it then it is the weakest virus in history because no one has had a sniffle
I am shocked that anyone on a board called Free Republic would be in favor of a lockdown. Shame on them. Complete and utter disgraces. Quarantines are for sick people not healthy ones.
and this week b**** of a virus terrifies you so much. It kills the old and the infirm. They should stay home.

Imagine what it would take to get from where we are today to having a capacity live audience sit for a live orchestra Broadway show with a largely tourist audience. That is a very bold ask in a very risk averse world, bit it’s something we all ... I think... Want.
Movement? Where? When? The internet isn’t much help . I get no posts or alerts or messages of any kind from the groups I’m in. I heard of a protest yesterday only on the radio...that 20th century technology.

Hey am I missing something here? It seems the President has been pushing to opening the county back up. the push back has come from the Dem governors in the states. He’s done a pretty good job at putting duct tape of Faucci’s mouth this week, and scarf lady is now openly criticizing the death count AND the CDC. That’s progress.
But our potential failure will be in the belief that someone has to re-open the country FOR us. No, We The People must re-open the county as we are doing now.
States that are open are seeing large number if license plates from states that are not. Federalism as designed. The people are gathering and pushing back because we are Americans. It is also in our human nature to seek fellowship with on another.
Since government’s have little motivation to get things back on track, it is our job to do it. It may take civil disobedience or more. But sitting around waiting for someone to do it for us is a recipe for disaster.
I am in a blue state. This weekend there’s a barbecue in my backyard for family & friends. Expected attendance: 13+. No masks required.

The "cure" is killing us.
President Trump declared the National Emergency back in March.
He can end it.
That would exert enormous pressure on the slave states, and give an incredible boost to the free states.
I think he is afraid of being blamed for every single nursing home death in the nation, so he won't act.
Maybe he will....and soon, because our country is dying more and more every day.
It's kind of hard to do that when a mother who dares to take her kids to the playground gets hauled off in handcuffs by the cops.
It's kind of hard to that when you open your salon business and get slapped with a $14,000 fine.
It's kind of hard to that when you are banned from shopping for groceries if you don't put on the bloody slave mask.
Like it or not, government has it's boot on our necks. I hear all the brave talk, but the system has the power to arrest you, imprison you, fine you, and financially ruin you.
