Chloroquine, hydroxychloroquine linked to higher death risk in COVID-19: Analysis of data on 15,000 patients found increased rate of heart-related side effects

Chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine offer no clinical benefit for people with COVID-19 and might cause serious heart-related side effects, according to a study published Friday in The Lancet.

People with severe illness caused by the new coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, treated with either drug -- either alone or with an antiviral medication -- were up to twice as likely to die than those in the control group, which received standard, supportive care, the researchers found.

Those who died did so either as a result of COVID-19 or from side effects from treatment, the authors said.

"This is the first large-scale study to find statistically robust evidence that treatment with chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine does not benefit patients with COVID-19," co-author Dr. Mandeep R. Mehra, executive director of the Brigham and Women's Hospital Center for Advanced Heart Disease in Boston noted in a press release.

"Our findings suggest [these drugs] may be associated with an increased risk of serious heart problems and increased risk of death," she said.

Both drugs, used to treat malaria, have been touted by President Donald Trump and others, including billionaire Elon Musk, as a potential treatment for COVID-19, the disease caused by SARS-CoV-2, or to prevent infection. Their praise has come despite a lack of scientific evidence.

It’s not just blue states either.

It’s like all of them want to eliminate the ‘useless eaters’ and chronically ill (anyone with diabetes, HBP, cancer).

Is it not completely obvious the leftists actually want as many deaths as possible from this virus?

These people are evil, pure and simple.

Why is it the commie governors in the blue states ordered hospitalized covid 19 positive patients be released back to STATE RUN nursing homes? There was never any time period where we did not know doing something like this would be a death sentence to many thousands of elderly people in nursing facilities. We knew this before the first case of Covid was even found in the US, but the leftist bankrupt blue state governors did it anyway.

Come on people, are we just afraid to admit the obvious?

MSM (Main Stream Media) will probably get sued for miss leading the US about HCQ. MSM is against it because it will end the covid-19 crisis.

I want to know who financed the study, if there ever really was one. I would bet that whoever financed the study was driven by people who (a) want to see this administration fail; (b) want America to fall; and (c) want Americans to die.

"Early on isn’t happening in most states. In my state you have to be sick enough to be hospitalized to get it. By then it’s way too late."

So for those wanting to take this cocktail why don't they travel to a state where it can be obtained early on after being diagnosed? If I were to test positive this is what I would do immediately. I would go to where I could get these three drugs prescribed.

Understood.

I’m simply pointing out that, although it may not be appropriate for “critically ill” patients, we shouldn’t throw the baby out with the bath water in cases where the combination of hydroxychloroquine, zithromycin and zinc has shown positive results in reducing both the viral load and immune response in patients who have not reached the critical stage.

I automatically discount anything that appears in the Lancet, most especially if there is an ideological component involved.

The Lancet is a wholly leftist organization.

Don’t take it then. RA patients don’t even get EKG’s before having it prescribed. Weighing risk/benefit makes sense. Another drug which opens cell membranes to zinc should be prescribed for those with severe dysrythmias, such as quercetin.

Some states only test very symptomatic people.

And not every insurance plan covers the out of state stuff readily.

The HCQ seems to work when taken IMMEDIATELY on development of symptoms. If you wait a few days to get an appointment or think ‘it’s just allergies’, or in many states get symptomatic enough for a referral for a test, it’s probably too late to do any good at that point. Think Tamiflu.

A Study is Not research. Studies are used to formulate hypothesis.

They dismiss the hydroxychloroquine protocol because it’s based on anecdotal results. BUT they accept negative reports of hydroxychloroquine, which are equally anecdotal.

(Hydroxychloroquine Derangement Syndrome is clearly a subcondition of Trump Derangement Syndrome)

I'm not sure where you are getting that information. I think it's only in the last stages where these drugs are ineffective, as in once you end up on a ventilator or close to it, only THEN is it too late. I think it's abundantly clear this cocktail is very effective with mild to moderate symptoms. At least that is what I'm getting from the information coming from unbiased sources, including reports from parts of Europe where the drugs have been used more extensively. As far as insurance concerns, are you kidding? These drugs are cheap, HCQ is cheap, Zpac is cheap and zinc is cheap. Furthermore you are talking about your life, screw insurance, pay out of pocket. Why would insurance even be a concern when the treatment is low cost and you are talking about life or death.

I’m getting that from EVMS documents.

Once you start showing symptoms beyond the first few days the HCQ doesn’t really do anything even if you include Zn and the macrolide.

https://www.evms.edu/media/evms_public/departments/internal_medicine/EVMS_Critical_Care_COVID-19_Protocol.pdf

If you wait until you’re ‘really sick’, you’ve waited too long. And ‘really sick’ isn’t ‘to the point of needing a ventilator’.

Nifty chart of progession/drugs in that PDF.

We know someone in that organization. Smart guy. Conservative.

And a lot of states, not just blue ones, are still stingy with tests if you aren’t ‘really sick’. Moreover, even IF you test positive they aren’t giving scrips for HCQ early on when it would actually do some good.

costa rica has been using hydroxy since march 18. dont know with what else they have revised their protocol 2-3 times. 903 cases 10 deaths 2 were 86 and 87 yrs before using hydroxy, one cured of corona died of pneumonia, one had lymphatic cancer also others had co-morbidity maybe one no co-morbidity.

This article is neither a recommendation nor suggestion and is for information only, to point out what is available to subdue and disable lipid coated viruses with the latest virus in the corona family being one of them. BHT has been around for about forty years, has a good safety record when taken using a common sense approach, probably safer than many prescription drugs and with hardly no side effects. Of course nothing is ever perfect including vaccines, and from time to time we encounter humans with some adverse reactions, such as upset stomach etc. If this happens, stop taking it.

It just boggles the mind that here we have a product with the ability to disable a virus which so far has caused billions in damage along with a large number of life’s. One would think that some entity would come along and re-test this product for suitability to be used by humans to ward off some of these nasty viruses and come up with suggested guidelines in reference as to the quantity which it would take to get the job done. But once again we run into the biggest stumbling block called money. Unless there is a big payoff down he road by pursuing such a project, no one really cares even if people die or economies go belly up.

3.3 Butylated HydroxyToluene (BHT) and the latest corona virus

BHT operates within the blood. It breaks open the lipid coat of lipophilic viruses, which are then eaten up by the macrophages in the blood. There are many germs which are prevented from breeding in the blood by BHT. AIDS, for example, is probably one of these — see
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3649561 where the abstract reads

“Abstract
Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) is a potent inactivator of lipid-enveloped viruses. The viral envelope structure is physically disturbed by BHT, thereby interfering with viral adsorption to host cells. Since the virus responsible for AIDS (HTLV III) contains a lipid envelope, BHT warrants investigation as a potential antiviral agent against the AIDS virus.”

This study was suggested in May 1987. A better example of how Big Pharma ignore cheap products, from they can’t make much money, might be difficult to find, excepting their previous attacks on resveratrol itself.

HLTV III stands for Human Leukaemia Type Virus 3.
BHT seems to deactivate the entire range of lipid coated viruses -the Herpes Zoster Viruses such Chickenpox (which is not an inevitable disease of childhood — BHT stops it in its tracks — and Chickenpox can turn into painful shingles and reappears in later life cuasing reddened scaly skin). As the internet comments “Shingles is an infection caused by the varicella-zoster virus, which is the same virus that causes chickenpox. Even after the chickenpox infection is over, the virus may live in your nervous system for years before reactivating as shingles. Shingles may also be referred to as herpes zoster.”

About half of virus diseases are caused by lipid-coated viruses. See http://www.rifeenergymedicine.com/BHT.html which says

“This [BHT] virus suppression is for the great majority of viruses to the point that no clinical symptoms of their presence are observable in infected individuals other than anti-bodies tests. However, no drug company is going to apply for FDA approval to sell BHT as a anti-viral over the counter drug. This is because the patent on BHT has run out. Once one drug company has again gone through all of the same testing that BHT had to go through the first time for use as a food additive, but now as a drug, then any other drug company can sell BHT after FDA approval of the first drug company. There is no big money monopolistic profit in it. So what we have is the FDA’s, AMA’s, and drug companies dirty secret, that millions of people are suffering and dying needlessly. It should also be mentioned that the above daily dosage of BHT with vitamin E also slows your aging rate by at least 25 %.”

BHT is not popular with some of the oils and fat producers, because it keeps oils fresh, and thus reduces the demand for vegetable and cooking oils. The usual scaremongering massive dosage experiments have indicated one danger of BHT. For example, if any individual takes vast amounts of BHT — say 73 grams per day, or 292 250 mg tablets per day — then, according to the scaling-up of rat experiments, BHT could cause some liver damage.

Paracelsus, the “father of medicine” said (in German) that “The dose makes the poison”. Many products which are totally safe in small doses are damaging and sometimes fatal in large enough doses. That fact has been used to attack the usefulness of many health-improving products so that the expensive treatments pushed by big Pharma are used in preference to cheaper, usually safer and more effective solutions.

A balanced view of the benefits and dangers of BHT is at http://www.advance-health.com/bht.html where the large benefits and the “wonky overload” research is summarised, and where that source says:

“A few of the viruses that have a lipid envelope and may be affected by BHT include herpes simplex I, herpes simplex II, herpes zoster, ckytomegalovirus, west nile virus, HIV virus, influenza virus, hepatitis B and C viruses, avian flu influenza virus and the SARS virus. Remember that BHT has not been clinically tested and approved to treat these infections.”

In my view BHT is not generally required as a daily supplement, but it is useful to keep a bottle of 100 250mg tablets because if you (or a loved one) are suffering from an attack of one of the many lipid-coated viruses, you can stop such attacks in its tracks. When my eldest daughter caught chickenpox at school in 1975, I gave her one 250mg tablet of BHT with ice cream (BHT is fat-soluble, so taking it with a fat-containing food helps absorption). The chicken-skin appearance — the sure sign on her chest of the chickenpox infection — disappeared and we took her back to the doctor, who said “I must have misdiagnosed”. He hadn’t.

Since BHT is only soluble in either oil or alcohol and better absorbed by the human body if previously dissolved in oil, one way I found works quite well is as follows. Take about 200 milliliters of olive oil in a small glass bottle, add 18gr (grams) which is 18000mg of BHT. In order to speed up dissolving, warm the solution up slightly in a microwave for about 30 seconds and shake a few times.

A tsp. depending on its size will provide you with approximately 450 mg. of BHT just about the right amount which will work I most cases. If you don’t have access to an accurate scale, many people are into re-loading their own shooing supplies and may have a powder scale. In this case 18gm is equal to 277.782
